An amazing professor. This course has many interesting extra credit questions that allow your final grade to exceed 101%. He is mostly careful with gender-nonspecific language until he gets engrossed in lecturing or explaining complex topics. Nevertheless, his lectures are pretty clear—he well knows what he is teaching.

Professor Titelbaum does his best to make difficult material accessible to everyone. He is excellent at explaining logic, and he often adds fun parts into lectures. I got a lot out of this class, but don't expect to be an expert debater after taking intro to logic. That is not what it's about. Highly recommend.

An amazing professor. He made an otherwise difficult and, in my opinion, boring subject as interesting and engaging as possible. His office hours were incredibly helpful and you could tell he really wanted to see his students succeed. He is the reason I declared a philosophy major!

Professor Titelbaum, in addition to being a cool guy, is an excellent educator. He is very responsive to emails, his office hours are extremely informative (and collaborative), and his general ability to explain abstract concepts in an understandable method is without comparison. Highly recommended class for STEM students needing humanities credit

Titelbaum is my favorite professor. He's soooo funny and his lectures are really well organized. However, you'll either get this topic or you won't. I took this class to satisfy QR-B and i wish I would have taken math instead. It's difficult and not really applicable (in my opinion). You don't need to read the textbook bc he explains everything

I think Titelbaum is a really good professor. Hunter is the TA and he is incredibly helpful. No problem in terms of them - the class completely sucks though. It seems easy enough, but in practice is incredibly difficult and not really philosophy at all. If you want to take a philosophy course and are not a Philosophy major - DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE

Im only posting this to warn anyone to stay away. Prof Titelbaum is really a cool guy. Hes nice, cracks bad jokes, what more an you ask for? But Logic 211 is a serious bore. I took it thinking it would be similar to other philos classes. It is probably the least useful class I've ever taken (for non philos majors) If you dont have to take it, DONT

Professor Titelbaum is one of the most egotistical, vapid professors I've encountered thus far at UW. While somewhat funny and invigorating during lectures, Titelbaum loses all appeal upon realizing that he needs to inflate his ego by letting all of his students know how idiotic they are in comparison to him.

211 didn't satisfy anything for me- it was outside of my majors and it didn't satisfy any gen-eds. I took this class because I thought it would help my critical thinking skills. Welp, mission accomplished. Titelbaum is the GOAT. I highly recommend taking this class, even if some of his jokes don't land.

Professor Titelbaum is likely the best lecturer I've had in my life. He is fantastically clear and his insightful explanations expose the underlying framework of the given topic & how it relates to others covered. He is very engaging and knows his lectures and course content shockingly well. His problem sets really help you to learn the content.

Great professor! If you attend lectures and understand the problems in the problem sets, exams would become very easy.

While I thought Titelbaum was easy to reach in office hours at whatnot, and the material wasn't too hard, I wasn't a huge fan. He tries to be funny but it can be kind of condescending. I appreciate the effort to make class interesting, but honestly he was trying too hard to be the cool prof.

nice

One of the best professors at Madison.

One of the premier professors in the world--this logic class made me a philosophy major. A must take if you are interested in philosophy. One of the smartest people at UW and makes material accessible to anyone who puts in the time. Easy to meet with. Anyone who tries can do well in logic and he makes it engaging and valuable.

Good guy but acts like a robot when it comes to certain ideas. sees everything as an argument. thinks "most kids come to college just to get a degree". don't take this class if you want to think about philosophy or gain an understanding of something abstract. ATTENDANCE NOT MANDATORY (against UW policy), post everything online. Do not take logic

503 with Titelbaum will force you to think logically and, consequently, improve your reasoning skills immensely. So, if you think you need to work on your critical thinking, I highly recommend that you take 503 with Titelbaum.

Titelbaum makes otherwise dense and difficult readings quite easy to understand. However, he grades papers very harshly. I would suggest any student to take a class with him.

Bayesian Epistemology. Seriously the best prof I've ever had. Took this as an undergrad (one of like 3, rest were grad students). Crazy difficult - I met with him about twice a week during problem sets, and if I hadn't, I would not have gotten through it. Regardless, super interesting course. Also great prof for 211 & 503. I'll miss his classes!!

Titelbaum is an excellent teacher. Uses many pop culture examples to keep an otherwise dry class fairly entertaining. Textbook is useless, lecture is extremely clear and helpful. Section is optional but good chance to practice problems. Approach this class like you would a math class and don't expect it to prepare you for the LSAT.

The course is easy if you actually take your time to review it. 7 Problem sets take most of the grade, and the hardest. He goes over every single question in easy problem set during office hours. Midterms and Finals are SUPER EASY--he makes them easier than the problem set. Best Professor in every possible way.

To be honest, I hated this class with a passion. Like he says on the first day of class, this isn't an easy class to take for QRB, and its really not helpful prep for the LSAT. That being said, he is an awesome professor. He tries to make lectures interesting, and is extremely nice. Also very helpful and obviously knows what he is talking about.

One of the best professors I've had at UW. Funny, very clear, and interesting. Lecture is not required, I never went to discussion (not required), and I think you could do well just reading the great lecture slides and doing problem sets; however, I'd go to class just cause he's funny. As he sang, "Whisper words of wisdom: tilde E!" Good times.

Such a cool guy. If anyone else was teaching this class it would be a total snoozefest, but I actually looked forward to his lectures. They're filled with pop culture references and he's very high-energy. 1 Midterm that was very fair and 7 problem sets, which were difficult but definitely prepared you for the midterm and final. Take this class!

Titelbaum is absolutely ridiculous. The lectures were fast paced but VERY clear and well organized. Listening to him is kind of like listening to nerdy 15-year-old child prodigy, which is to say kind of irritating but endlessly entertaining. He seriously said <boop!> every time he clicked to a new ppt slide. Good times, as he would say.

Made logic, which would be an otherwise extremely boring subject, interesting and interactive. Funny, great lecture. Always available to help, I would suggest going to his office hours for help on the homework if you are confused.

He is a great professor! That said, I took the summer course, and it was extremely difficult at the fast pace, I would recommend a full semester. Attendance was not mandatory, and powerpoints were provided. Grading was 50% problem sets, 50% final exam. Grading was VERY fair.

I had a GREAT experience in this class. He's super energetic, funny, and knows his stuff. I can't express much I learned from this professor.I agree though that he's a bit of an attention-seeker. I don't think he's egocentric; but definitely he wants students to like him. To be fair, students' evaluations are paramount to obtain tenure!

One of the best profs I've had thus far! His lectures are engaging & filled with fun pop culture references. He really knows what he's talking about, and he's energetic & funny. He teaches you exactly what you need to know for the problem sets & exams. This is a GREAT class for QR-B if you like the logic of math but not the numbers. I enjoyed it!

He is a really great professor, and makes himself available for help anytime. I would not have made it through this class is anyone else was the professor. He is extremely helpful and lectures are clear. One note though, if you are just taking this class for a Quantitative Reasoning Part B class, don't, take something else.

Amazing prof. Keeps lectures interesting on a subject which could be considered dull. He's engaging and attempts at humor usually succeeding. If your mind follows any sort of logical sequencing, and you can identify patterns, the class should be extremely easy.

great young professor, very knowledgeable and approachable. You'll learn A LOT from his lectures. One thing though is that he demands a lot of attention from his students. There's a fine line between being nice and being "too nice" to the point of being egocentric. He needs to work on this pedagogical aspect. Otherwise, great class!!

With the end of his first semester at UW, this new professor has proven his teaching ability in spades. Titelbaum's strength is undoubtedly the clarity of his lectures, which were always well-planned. The great thing is that he gives you all the skills you need to complete the homework and exams, yet also allows room for further ideas.
