I ADORED microbio 303. She is an amazing lecturer and makes hard topics easy to understand and so, SO intriguing. She incorporates reviews of previous lectures into each lecture and her exams are incredibly fair. Lectures are detailed, but she does a lovely job pointing out recurring themes and makes studying easy.

Dr. Christopherson is one of the best lecturers I've had. For a topic that was a difficult as many were in Micro 303, she always made it clear what we need to know. MC exams were difficult, but if you paid attention in lecture, took notes, and spent the time studying, you will do more than fine. You are set up for success with Dr. Christopherson

Professor Christopherson is very cordial and nice to all students, however her lectures are uninformative and lacking in the areas you need to know. Her MC exams are tricky, filled with tons of distractors. You are better off studying by googling mechanisms and terms, because a lot of the test questions will be material vaguely covered in lecture.

Nice professor who cares about her students. She is however very strict on grading the first proposal draft. But don't be frustrated by that. Make sure you spend time to incorporate her comments to revise such that SHE can understand your research. Meeting with her to discuss the details of your research is highly recommended.

Her content is not detailed, and she likes to tell story about her son and her own, which no body cares. The thing that is important like mechanisms are skipped over really fast by her. It's hard to learn something that is very professional and specific in her class.

She is so kind, passionate and personable. Truly wants to help and talk with students! Very question-friendly and accessible. The exams can definitely throw some curve balls but she really helps you set yourself up for success. Class is well run! Take advantage of how willing she is to help and you will do great! Tip: study every week, don't cram!

Dr. C is great, a bit shy/quiet, but always willing to help & be available if a student needs it. If you're in the group capstone, she gives a short lecture before class most days. She loves it when people put in the effort and she's pretty forgiving when it comes to submitting assignments late--just do the work. If you're struggling, talk to her!

Melissa gave her lectures from PowerPoints, but they often lacked the details that were actually important and she just skimmed over them in class. The content itself isn't hard, but her test questions (all mc) are super cryptic and full of distractors she never mentioned in class. Interesting class, just wasn't a big fan of her exam writing.

Talks fast in lecture and writes kinda difficult exams. Best way to prep is to make practice questions for yourself on the material (I ended up doing this and was able to predict a lot of the questions). Not my favorite professor, but not the worst either (though I probably wouldn't jump at the opportunity to take another class with her).

Dr. C shows that she cares and wants students to get her content. She is very very fast at communicating and also clear and concise on her explanation pertaining to topics. She's very enthusiastic about microbio and tries her best to answer questions to the best of her knowledge.

Dr. C makes her lectures available online, though she really encourages attendance. Her lectures have little breaks where she goes into more detail on a topic or tells a story relating to the topic, but won't be tested on; the stories/details help me learn a lot of times! Great in lecture and lab(304)!

The best professor I have ever had. She truly cares about her students and wanted all of us to succeed.

Absolutely the best professor I've ever had. Ask for anything and She's there to help!

Professor C. is a great professor and really cares about her students. She's very understanding and will help you if you need it. The lectures and tests are pretty straight-forward, can be a little difficult. Don't be afraid to go to her office hours.

Loved this professor! She is accessible by office hour if you make an appointment with her. Her exams are tough but not impossible if you start studying a week ahead of time and make flashcards even though she advises against it. I would also recommend doing the optional outreach project for extra credit. It is an easy 10 points and really helped.

Absolutely love Dr. Christopherson!! While this class is not by any means an easy one it is clear she is passionate about the subject and she was super willing to help me when I was struggling! Incredibly caring, enthusiastic professor. The class is a lot of material, but if you listen, she makes it very manageable. Would definitely recommend!

This class is incredibly tough. Prof. Christopherson is not a very good lecturer because she skips around and interjects "funny" stories just for "fun". She also knows that her tests are really hard but doesn't seem to care or plan to change them. It's really tough to take the information for lectures and do well on the tests.

Reserves the right to bump your grade up or down at the end of the semester with "discretionary points" which cost me a grade level. If you are going to arbitrarily give out grades based on who you like, just be honest and say it, don't bs students with "discretionary points." Petty, bad professor, avoid if possible.

Melissa is a great professor, but it is necessary to pay attention during lecture, she will tell you everything you need to know for the exams.

Dr.C is a great professor. She is super caring and you can tell she really wants her students to succeed. The only downside to her is that her exams are tough. She even admits this herself and she says she is trying to make her exams more manageable. Had her for 304 as well and you can tell she really knows her stuff. Go to her office hours!

From what I've heard of friends who took Prof Christopherson's class last year, she has improved a lot. And I appreciate it--for a new professor, I can sincerely say I think she's doing a good job and will one day be a fantastic lecturer. However, in the meantime, she has some work to do to make the lectures more engaging and straightforward.

Nice professor and is really interested in what she is teaching. Despite being timid when lecturing, she is very thorough in what she saying. The exams should not be difficult if you study, really everything is in her lectures and they're recorded!! The only downside is that there are ALOT of material but other than that it is manageable.

Prof. Christopherson is a nice professor but is completely unorganized, and timid in lectures. Tested material is generally trick questions and does not test you on your understanding of the topics. Goes off on rants that are "trivia" and not needed for the class. You're better off skipping class, listening to lecture online, and googling questions

As a newer professor, she struggles at times in lecture but she's getting better!! She's so kind and available to explain topics outside of class and was always so helpful! Easy to recommend!

Melissa is a great person. She is a new professor and sometimes stumbles while lecturing, but she is more than helpful if you are willing to approach her after hours.

Melissa is a wonderful professor. She cares about the success of her students and is overall a very sweet human being! I've loved having her as a professor.

Melissa was a professor in my capstone microbiology laboratory and was extremely helpful if you ever had questions about your project or the lab procedure. She gives great feedback on writing assignments and has a LOT of knowledge about research and scientific writing. Awesome professor!!

This is the first year Melissa has taught micro102, and it shows. The course is incredibly disorganized, while the lab manual over saturated with content. She never explains how to do the homework, but just tells you to refer to the lab manual if you have questions. Haven't taken the exams yet, but I can only imagine they will be difficult.

Took microbiology 303 with her last semester. Uses TopHat and records lectures. VERY small and seemingly insignificant details will be on the test. Online quizzes will include questions not found in lecture with answers difficult to find in the book. Study guides will have a list of 60+ questions with no answers.

Probably one of the worst professors I have had at UW Madison. She is timid and quite while giving lectures. It is difficult to see what the main points are and what you should understand. The structure of her lectures are confusing which makes studying the tiny details that will be on her tests nearly impossible. I would avoid taking another class

If you don't copy down every single word she says in lecture you won't do well on exams. She expects you to know every single detail about every single topic, even if she doesn't mention it in lecture. Also, her slides barely contain any text so if you zone out for even a couple of seconds you are screwed.

She's very dedicated to putting a good class together but doesn't always have the technical skills. Sometimes she can be very timid and her intentions or expectations are unclear.
