Interesting course, but the final was a group project (boo).

Professor Bailon is extremely kind and passionate! The course is quite easy, with most of the grade relying on a midterm essay and a final project. However, you will spend a LOT of time on the material, especially hour(s) long documentaries. She frequently is unable to cover everything planned for each day, but class is simple.

I really enjoyed Professor Bailon as a person, her passion is clear. However, the class was often unorganized & was extremely reliant on small group discussion, which led to different people in class having very different take-aways from course material. The same people always had to share out in class & others participation didn't seem necessary.

She is such a sweet person and really cares about her students. There is a lot of group discussion that encourages personal interpretation. However, she is uncomfortable talking in front of students and tends to repeat herself several times in lectures. Regardless, she will help you with anything and wants to see everyone succeed. (Chicla 210)

Mrs. Bailon is the best teacher ever she is so nice and makes the class worth taking. Inspired me to get a certificate in Chicano studies after taking Chicla 201. As long as you do homework and follow along, class should be an easy A.

The class is really easy to follow as long as you do the HW. Exams are all writing short paragraphs which are open-note based on any readings or videos assigned. She is willing to extend deadlines.

Megan is really nice and caring. Her class is not very difficult. As long as you show up and do your homework, assignments, and essays, the class is easy. Megan really wants you to understand the reasons behind the different movements discussed in class, so pay attention!

Favorite class of all at Madison thus far! Megan is a fantastic TA who helps any student and grades quite fairly. She just wants to see you try your best and at least participate. Reading is important if you don't attend lecture much. Plenty of extra credit opportunities. Made my Spanish experience a lot more enjoyable compared to former TAs.
