Professor Mauk is awesome. I am in Art 100 online and the class is super interesting and fairly easy (and I am not artistic at all). There are no tests or quizzes and each week you have 2-3 short writing assignments and 1 actual art project. Not a ton of work, especially if you space it out over the week. Definitely recommend this class!
Maybe I'm used to more work in my other classes, but this course was pretty easy. I learned a lot about art that I didn't understand, which is why I took it.
Online course, good lecturer. A lot of work. Have to write 400-word paper every week in addition to the creative assignments.
The only reason I say lots of homework is because sometimes 4 art assignments was a lot for be to add into my workload in a week, but it was an easy A. If you do every assignment and give at least some effort you will get an A. He wants to see you try and he does his best to make it fun.
Online class. Pretty easy as long as you actually put a little effort into the assignments. Not a ton of interaction with Mauk unless you reach for it, but I'm decent at art and haven't needed help. He's clear and concise, and if you follow the instructions you get all the points. Easy 3 credits if you're taking pretty intensive courses in person.
Initially, I didn't know what to expect from an online art class. However, I learned a lot about art and art history from his class. There were easy weekly assignments that covered different periods in art which did not take long. Overall, this class is a fun and easy elective if you're at all interested in art.
Matt is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. He has a lot of experience in art and offers a lot of different opportunities to expand your artistic skills in Drawing 212. He even brings in his own technologies for his students to explore. He gives good feedback and is very funny, but sarcastic at times. 100% recommend taking his class.
Honestly, he's such a cool guy. He actually wants you to create art that makes you happy and work on stuff you're interested in. He will push you out of your comfort zone a bit but it honestly always pays off. He really casual but does expect you to put in the work. He's really understanding about personal situations. Best teacher at UW, hands down
I don't know why anyone else is saying he's a hard instructor. As long as you come in and work, you'll get a good grade. The virtual reality part was really cool.
This is without a doubt, one of my favorite classes that I've taken at UW. He really expects you to put all the effort you can into every assignment, which is a little difficult at first. I left being able to draw better than I ever thought I could. Don't be afraid to talk a lot in critiques.
The best drawing class! Project assignments are always fun.
Great class! Made technical assignments fun
