Matteo is a really sweet guy and cares about his students. Always attentive to if students have questions or what they want more of in the class. Exams are hard and theres little practice questions. I recommend using the book even though its optional. There's a heavy curve so the difficulty doesn't go unrewarded.

Tests were nothing like what was covered in class or the problem sets; old practice tests don't help in studying as the format changed from each one. Clearly is knowledgeable but fails to simplify concepts. Few examples given in lecture. Problem sets were only form of practice. Did not provide extra resources. Mostly accessible outside of class.

Matteo was amazing. His exams are wacky and non-standard, and the whole objective of the class is to break out of the repetitive algorithm of microeconomics. We spent a lot of time analyzing edge-case scenarios, learning to think out of the box. There is no structured syllabus: he adjusted the deadlines based on the learning pace of the class.

good lecturer, cares about his students and promotes a casual atmosphere. one con: he often moves through course material linearly rather than repeating key concepts, so it can be easy to miss something critical if you zone out for a few minutes. but the problem sets help you realize anything you missed.

It is the first course Matteo taught at UW, but he sets the expectations and instruction clear and organized. As a honors econ class, he encouraged us to actively learn and critically reflect on ideas, rather than simple memorizations. I had a great time in his class.
