His lectures are incredibly vivid and nicely paced, and he finds ways to make them interesting for all students. The course has clear grading criteria, with fair homeworks and exams, requiring the perfect amount of effort for a 3-credit class. All the lectures are done on the chalkboard, so you have to come to class.

Ediger is one of the best professors I've had at UW. His expectations are clear and consistent. If you attend all lectures and discusses and put in work on the homework you will be successful. If the material is particularly challenging for you he provides the names of numerous textbooks for reference and is available outside of class.

Really great professor. Awesome

Fantastic professor, he has a way of making sure you understand topics in the class. The course speeds along, but as long as you show up its not really an issue. Try to participate during lecture if you can, and if you made it through chem 115, this class will be a breeze (relatively)

Professor Ediger taught this course very well and has been one of my favorite professors at UW. He made pchem interesting to learn and was very helpful during office hours and made sure we understood the material. There are challenging problem sets due each week but if you do/understand them, you will do well on exams. Would highly recommend.

Ediger is WONDERFUL! He was very kind and helpful, and he makes challenging topics approachable. Tests are hard but very fair- study the problem sets. I had an awful time in 115, but Mark's enthusiasm reinspired my love for chemistry. If he's teaching 116 again, you should take the 115-6 sequence- having Ediger for 116 was worth the pain of 115.

Mark's the man! One of the best teacher's I've ever had at UW. He takes really hard topics and approaches them from a different angle then the book, making it a lot easier to understand. He also tries to engage students in class. To do well on exams, make sure to memorize the derivations and intensely study past exams and you're guaranteed a 50/60.

What a great guy and excellent professor. He is incredibly approachable and helpful at office hours. I really screwed up the first exam but he looked past it when calculating my final grade later on. Practice the hws and practice exams for the final exam and pay attention to topics he stresses or gets excited about during lecture. Great lecturer.

Take Mark! Every lecture was important. He made Chem 561 fun. The class its self is difficult just because of material, but Mark made it much easier to understand and was a very effective teacher

Mark is a great professor. Well-organized class contents, about right lecture pace & helpful study materials! His exams are reasonable, and if u follow his instruction sheet for each exam, u'll at least get 60. The course is scared. My classmates are doing well this sem & half of us are an A now. Hope we all can do well in the finals! Fighting!!!

He's amazing at teaching! He will look at a problem through different angles to make sure everyone understands. He's very good at getting the class interested and involved with lecture. The homework every week is not too difficult, but very useful for exams/learning. He's definitely my favorite professor here.

Excellent professor. Made difficult material easier. Let's you know what's expected on the exams without telling you outright what is on them. Homework is extremely beneficial to what is going on in class.
