Lectures often hard to follow, and the expectations for our semester project were not very clearly laid out.

Professor Mares really takes the time to make sure the content is easy to understand and doesn't leave any of her students behind. If you show up to the lectures and discussions and take good notes, you will be able to do well.

Prof. Mares is actually the sweetest person in the world and can do no wrong. She's caring toward her students and understands our lives outside of class (real ex.: rescheduling our exam so it's not set right after the election anymore). We get to bring a full sheet of note paper for each exam, and the study guides are so useful!

Professor Mares is incredibly kind, caring, and always willing to answer questions. She made the material engaging and accessible. With a cheat sheet for every exam, I was able to focus on truly understanding the content and mastering concepts. There were plenty of extra credit opportunities, and I highly recommend this course for QRB credits.

She is genuinely the kindest professor ever and cares so much about her students. CA 361 is the easiest class I've ever taken in my life. I keep getting 100% on the exams. It looks suspicious at this point. The study guide is the exact test and she lets you bring a cheat sheet. My TA Jinyoung is equally as lovely and kind as well.

Her TA Mary was absolutely terrible, she couldn't get her point across is discussion, answer questions, not helpful. She was inaccessible outside of class when the whole reason you'd need to meet with her was because she didn't speak to you in discussion. Lied saying she wasn't allowed to meet with students after class on finals week.

This class is not fun at all. Even tho the professor is good, but whenever I asked her question she made feel stupid and wouldn't explain things to me as I want. She made it difficult for me to go and ask her a question If you don't want to help just say it.The lecture was too much wordy and confusing. There is a weekly reading,3 exams

TAKE THIS IF YOU NEED QUANT B CREDIT! Clearly cared about students, especially knowing that as mainly Comms majors, we are scared of math. Clear lectures, not too much weekly work, and I learned way more than in any other research class I've taken. Pay attention in lecture and you'll be fine.

class is extremely confusing, quizzes do not align whatsoever. prof is very disorganized and theres way too much information on slides. quizzes are worded in ways that do not make sense. haven't learned anything this semester, you basically teach yourself.

Quizzes did not align with lectures. Semester long Group Project was a nightmare. It's clear Professor was focused on research and not undergrads.

Professor Mares is my favorite professor that I've had up to this day. She truly wants all of her students to understand the course material and succeed. Furthermore, she's extremely caring and understanding. Don't be afraid to go to her office hours to get another explanation if what she said in class didn't make sense or speak up in class!

Professor Mares is such a kind lady and really wants everyone to succeed in her course. It is clear that she is passionate for what she does, but that can sometimes cause her to overcomplicate explanations of concepts. Feel like I came away with a very vague idea of the course topic

Prof. Mares has been one of the greatest professors in my undergrad career. She does an incredible job ensuring everyone has an adequate chance at doing well in the course and understanding the material. Her passion flows through her teaching as she shows up every day and turns difficult topics into engaging, interactive discussion. Will miss her!

Great professor, very sweet lady. Com 361 is a great class for Quan B fulfillment. Would highly recommend. However, there is a big group project throughout the semester, so if you have problems with you partners, speak up early or you will end up doing all the work.

She cares SO much about her students & if they understand the lecture (almost too much, she gave us 400 mins for a 2 pt. HW). Attendance is taken in lecture & section, but grading system & assignments are CRAZY easy. No exams, just easy in class quizzes. Very straightforward. Only complaint: uses an absurd amount of sexual examples in lecture......

Discussions are based around group projects. Sangwon Lee was my TA and was the most useless TA I've had here on campus (he's a nice guy though). If you can find someone to sign you in, you could skip class for weeks, study the night before a quiz and you'd be completely fine. Professor Mares is a very sweet lady with an very interesting voice.

Marie is such a sweet professor and seems to genuinely care about her students! But J616 was super hard, but that's because I just don't have knowledge w/ research and experiments so just a heads up, it's not an easy a. But Marie is so sweet and if you have questions she is always there to help answer them! Just a really sweet and caring person!

Professor Mares is adorable. She genuinely cares about the whole class performing well, and she frequently checks to make sure the class understands the material. Her little accent is adorable too. There were no exams, just straightforward in-class quizzes that were easy A's. Easiest Com B requirement you could take!

Professor Mares is hands down one of my favorite professors! She was super enthusiastic and really made the class enjoyable. Material was laid out in an organized format and you knew exactly what was expected of you. She also provided insightful study guides for the (4) quizzes. Overall material was understandable and I felt as though I learn a lot

While she is very helpful and energetic, her lectures jump around A LOT and can be hard to follow. Almost all of her studies for this class are out of date (talking about how Myspace is popular). She does know her stuff, and if you go to her office hours it will make up for her lectures.

Professor Mares is such a nice lady! You can really tell she cares a lot for her students & wants you to do well. Go to the lectures for attendance sheet. No exams, just 5 quizzes over the course of the semester. She even gives review guides that make it much easier to study for. Not much textbook use, but helpful to have. Easy Quan B fulfillment.

One of the best professors that I have had at UW. While the assigned readings are scholarly articles, she doesn't use ones that are overly complicated, and then she explains them in class in case you didn't understand. I learned so much from this class! I had her for CA 325, and I would recommend her to anyone! No exams, just quizzes.

Great Teacher. You need to learn the material for the purpose of the assignments but if you have a good group its easy to get an A. Very helpful. Go to lecture, for points, and the partial powerpoint slides help when studying for quizzes.

Her accent is the best part of the class. She takes attendance at every lecture. Very easy group project if your group is nice. No exams, only 5 quizzes. She posts lecture slides with minor things left blank sometimes. Practices quizzes she posts are the best way to study for quizzes. Easy QRB requirement.

No tests, only 5 quizzes. Quizzes are fair.Textbook is rarely used. She jumps around a lot, and isn't always clear. She wants to help and is concerned about the students. Random attendance, so go. Group work in section is a big part of your grade. 4 easy easy homework assignments. Do the work, get an A. Not the most interesting class, but bearable

I took Mares for both 361 and 565. 565 is interethnic comm. and it's a good class. do your reading, go to class and she's really helpful. Ditto to 361, she is really fair, but don't expect an A if you don't do the work.

This class was not interesting to go to at all, but she took random attendence by asking us to write down answers to what we were doing with a group. The project we did in section with a group was interesting and you learned the most from that.

Fabulous professor. Allows you to actually learn material because the structure of this class is a seminar. Assignments and quizzes aren't difficult if you pay attention and are preapred!

An excellent professor, concerned and clear. Recommended.

Gives lecture outlines which save you! Jumps around a lot in lecture and contridicts herself a lot. Tests arent easy but arent hard. If you REALLY need 3 credits of com arts or journalism, take it, but only if you really need to.
