TAKE HIM FOR DISCUSSION AS WELL. Even though it says "honors" it is open to everyone and not any harder, but very helpful for close-reading of the text, which is necessary for writing the essays (the main graded component of the class). His lectures are a bit long-winded but this class is basically Shakespeare's greatest works=great class.

Brilliant lecturer, brilliant writer, brilliant researcher. In the entire course of my undergraduate career, I have never met a professor so intelligent, genial and inspiring. You can tell that Witmore really enjoys Shakespeare, and he makes the class interesting. I also took his honors discussion, which I would recommend since it means you don't have to do work in discussion and you get a sense of what he is looking for in the two essays, which is essentially the entire class besides one final.Rate My Professors ↗
