I took Professor Manion's class on Politics in China here at Duke. Absolutely incredible professor. If you ever get a chance to take one of her classes, do it. You will not regret it.

Best professor I've ever had and most interesting class I've ever taken. If you get the chance to take one of her classes, definitely do it. She's going off to Duke next semester, so enjoy her for us! She's one in a million.

Very knowledgeable and professional, yet unexpectedly humorous. Really, REALLY knows her material. Virtually never use the textbook (she says she's in the process of writing one that suits the needs of the class), but nice for supplemental reading. If I could do it over, I would take this class again.

Prof Manion is amazing; her lectures were engaging and interesting. She really knows her topic and is very adept in conveying information clearly and in an organized fashion. Exams are challenging but not a surprise - know your lecture notes front to back & you'll do fine.

I was reluctant to take Contemporary Chinese Politics based on the reviews on rate my professor-pretty mediocre. Manion's lecture was one a never wanted to miss. She is very knowledgeable, approachable and fosters engaging questions and discussion in a large lecture. Go to class-test questions are from lecture.
