It's been two years since I took this class and some of the profound conversations I've had with him in and out of class really stuck with me. Max is bright and highly well-read, so I hope you get the chance to talk to him at some point, even if you never take his class.

Class usually consisted of mostly incoherent ramblings about topics/semantics that often didn't relate to the concepts of the course. Also, the class was extremely disorganized with poor communication about due dates/office hours.

Max is one of the most helpful and knowledgable professors I have had at the university. Read the books he assigns and listen to his lecture. Everything connects if you actually do the reading. We only had to write two papers in this class. The assigned readings are definitely manageable. Take this class!!

Max is the man. Yes, he seems tangential, but in his head somewhere he made a connection, and it will hit you while you're sitting around a table enjoying some beer with the people in your class at the Union. Don't miss out on this professor.

Lectures in seminar form, somewhat disorganized but Max is an extraordinarily knowledgeable and well-read professor. This class changed my view of the world completely. Go to his office hours; ask him questions and read the books he assigns. We had to write one paper for the entire semester, but spent all semester working on it! Take this class.
