Matt is one of the most approachable professors I have had at UW-Madison. He is knowledgeable in thermodynamics and is realistic in his expectations of students. I found the class to be a pretty low stress environment and feel that I have learned the concepts of thermodynamics well from his class.

Matt was one of the most approachable and personable professors that I have ever had. The exams can be difficult, but I believe that he sets you up for success by explaining what will be on them. I would recommend this class.

Matts a good guy and willing to help if you ask for it. But its a mixed learning class and it seems as if my class cant solve any problems given to us without help in the first 2 minutes, which is a red flag that material/examples arent being taught well enough. Have a good chemistry background to start. Exams & quizzes are somewhat diificult.

Matt was great. The class size was small enough where it was easy to approach him. The lectures were well structured and I was able to find help when I needed it. It is very important to understand all the concepts though, because the exams can be really hard, as he understands the concepts well (but you "make" the tests with him)

Matt is a really cool, entertaining guy. He can be a bit confusing and does make a number of mistakes on the board, but he'll always make sure to straighten things out. Tests aren't too bad - he wants his students to do well. Fair expectations and very understanding.
