Prof. Young is an engaging lecturer and caring teacher. The class was fairly demanding, but overall quite interesting and enjoyable. She also gets students involved by occasionally pulling them into discussions. The reading was consistent, but not too long. The 6 page paper was pretty time-consuming. If you put in the work, you will learn a lot.

Great teacher. Sometimes she moves a little fast through her lectures, but she gives out outlines every day and what she's talking about is basically in the textbook, although she goes a little more in depth. Most of the grading done by the TA, I had Derek Taira, but I don't think hes there anymore. If you luck out and get him, hes the best TA ever

Professor Young is incredibly helpful and very easy to follow. She makes a seemingly boring class intriguing with her memorable videos and professional, yet approachable teaching style. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone! She was one of my favorite professors at Wisconsin

She is a pretty good teacher, she definitely knows what she's talking about. I found the exams pretty easy, especially if you attend class. The only bad thing is that she can sometimes lose her train of thought in lecture, which I found distracting, but otherwise you can't lose with her.

Lectures can be a bit slow, but not the worst. She is generally very relaxed and easy to talk to. She grades papers rather hard, not a single person in my class got an A on the first essay. Is very enthusiastic about the subject, but expects a lot from you. Lots of reading.

she's nice and everything, but her final was the most unfair I've ever taken.

She demands a lot of work, especially reading. Very nice and helpful. Rather interesting subject material. Not a master lecturer, but OK. Shows a lot of movies, half of which are severely useless and boring. Any interest in WWII and this class is a must though.

A very good professor with only one problem. She is quite demanding, but she doesn't let you know this. Since no other history professor I've had actually demanded much, I coasted through with little effort and got a... C.

Took her History of Japan intro course. Interesting material, and she's well-organized and easy to follow. Not a lot of reading, and exams are straightforward, though you have definitely have to study for them to do well. Have movie days every other week. A nice lady, and laid back. His 104 w/ her is great for satisfying 3rd World His major req.

Outstanding prof, very helpful, clear, easygoing. Her seminar was one of the most interesting classes ive had at UW. I hear her lower level classes are just as good too.
