The material is always presented clearly, with the problem sets to practice, which is an excellent way to understand the concepts while honing analytical and calculation skills for economic problems. The course is also flexible. Professor Magnolfi genuinely cares about his students' success. He is always supportive, even outside of class.

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! very gracious grading curve (and distributions), lectures are engaging with notes posted on canvas, and each exam has 2 review lectures and very similar practice exam online. the reason this class is hard is because the exams are 65 mins for 4 multi-part problems, but pay attention and prepare well and you'll ace the class

Lorenzo is one of the best professors at UW-Madison. His lectures are clear, well organized and interesting. He will upload everything on canvas, which is very appreciated. And this is a guy who will reply your email even on Saturday and Sunday. Office hours are helpful. He cares about his students a lot. Highly recommend his Econ 301!

Got to drop one test of the semester (I didn't even take the final) which made the class a breeze. Clear lectures, good pacing. Would recommend.

Lorenzo is a good professor, and a great lecturer. Lectures are concise-- to the point and focus on core concepts. Everything you need is written down, and resources and office hours are complete and communicated well. Best of all, there's a generous curve in the class, even though it's not super difficult.

Magnolfi is the best lecturer at this university. Super engaging lectures. Don't have to read a textbook outside of class. Fun accent. Fun guy.

Dr. Magnolfi makes 301 pretty easy. Lots of ways to do well in the course, not too much work, and a solid lecturer. Would recommend.

Professor Magnolfi is a great professor, and I would recommend him for Econ 301. He conveys the material very well in lecture and goes over relevant examples. The grading criteria is also very clear. If you go to lecture, do the weekly practice problems, and seek out help when needed, you should succeed in class.

Prof Magnolfi is great. He explains things in a manner that is easy to grasp and the expectations and guidelines are very transparent. His wants students to succeed and prepared us well for the tests.

Hard subject material but Magnolfi really wants students to succeed. Tests are difficult with the time restraint but are open note and generously curved so take good notes and do the practice problems.

I had econ 301 with him and he is an amazing econ professor. But for this class, you should be good at mathematical thinking.

Professor Magnolfi is a great professor. It's a challenging class and the exams are tough, but they are graded on a generous curve. I liked the course and would definitely recommend it to people looking for a good 301 course.

Best econ301 choice in my opinion. Magnolfi gives a lot of leniency in grading, and he clearly wants students to succeed. That said, his lectures move fast and he doesn't make a ton of sense sometimes. Be prepared to put in the work outside of class to make up what you should have gotten in lecture. That said, was still very doable. Only math.

Lectures are pretty fun not mandatory, I think you can pass w/out going but they can be helpful. He is very very accessible and helpful during his office hours, go to them, especially nearing exams (he would go over extremely possible exam problems lol)!! The subject is relatively easy, only some chapters towards the end can be tough & confusing.

Nice professor, but not a fan of his lectures. He teaches by talking through econ jargon, which turns people off from economics, instead of using examples. He puts all slides online which is really nice, but the Algebra alone in this class is enough to make someone go crazy.

Was a pretty good lecturer, but the 8 am start time and the fact he put all his powerpoints on line made it pointless to go. Gives homework sets and TA's give discussion problems that follow exactly the material you will see on the tests. Put in an average amount of work and you should be able to do well. Math heavy.

Prof Magnolfi gives great feedback and is willing to help you a lot if you seek his help. He curves our grades quite generously. Take his class for 301. It is easy to score with him if you put in the effort.
