Yikes. Others have said she is passive aggressive, and they were right. She was fine to me, but I watched her treat other students terribly. I will not be taking any more of her classes.
Palmer is a horrible professor. The lectures consisted of us reading or watching something, then giving our opinion on the reporting. She was allergic to giving her own advice on reporting, and instead opted to say "that's interesting" in response to every comment. Passive Aggressive. Started every lecture with classroom rules like we're 5.
I liked professor palmer. it was an incredibly easy class with easy topics. attendance is mandatory so that sort of sucked but other than that it was a great class. the exams are super easy and there was no final exam.
Not that bad. I just hate her absence system where you have to have a note every time your sick, because that is not that easy if your college student. She doesn't stimulate the class that much- it is just slides and small group discussions. Do not take this class if you want to learn how to do journalism coverage, or sleep in- your grade will drop
The material wasn't difficult to understand and easy to take notes on. You grade your own participation each day and get 1 free absence. There's a lot of readings that you have to post discussions on but it's all pretty relevant. There's one group project at the end of the semester and 2 exams, no final. Definitely would recommend this class!
She is not good at teaching and does not have required skills and knowledge.
Dr. Palmer is pleasant to talk to, and class discussions could become really interesting. My biggest issue with her class was that she required too much writing, and her rubrics were too rigid. My grade kept getting docked because of small details, and it became frustrating. I got an A, but I had to walk through a minefield to get there.
The class material itself is easy and very current. Dr. Palmer uses recent articles about the topics to bring into class lectures and discussions.
Dr. Palmer is an awesome teacher that cares about her students and what we're learning about. Class wouldn't need the lectures but attendance is mandatory and participation is a huge part of grade so can't skip. Really cool material and relevant things we learn and read about, discussions are a bit boring sometimes as are lectures but good overall
Did not encounter this professor once in person or live- she simply posted the lectures from the previous semester and didn't change a single thing. Even the syllabus had the wrong dates that were leftover from the previous semester. Despite her own lack of effort in course material and teaching the students, she was an unreasonably hard grader.
Passive aggressive. She gets upset over small process things and loses track of the main point - if there ever was a main point.
Lindsay is sweet in person, but she is an awful prof. She give us time to discuss, and we literally have to time one another speaking. When our convos run short, she takes away points from in class grade for chatting. I had the worst in class grade in the class for chatting while others sat on phones. I talked the most in large group discussion.
