Exams are majority of your grade and if you do not have the exact answer on the answer key you will not get any credit. Professor is not willing to talk through short answer problems where points were taken off on exams either. Would not take this class unless required or have a deep passion for horticulture.

Was for Hort 121. Laura Jull was by far the worst professor I have had at UW Madison, and I had Joel Rogers. I just typed 1000 words of why she was so bad, but I only get 350. Class was interesting but she ruined it. In summary she's rude to guest lecturers and individual students, uncaring, and horribly disorganized.

Students are graded on exams only, which were not graded on understanding concepts, but rather being able to spew memorized text from boring ppts of 50+ slides. Attendance mandatory for listening to her read slideshows. She also displayed inappropriate social skills and consistently went past scheduled class time. Don't take if not required.

Has us remember literally HUNDREDS of slides of information word for word, but she can't even remember the names of her 12 students (originally 15, but 3 dropped the class the day before the drop deadline because it's that bad).

My semester with Dr. Jull was nothing but desperately studying 12+ hours for each exam to get nothing but B's. When asked what else I can do to get an A, she wouldn't give me an answer. She plays the victim every day. Singles out students and shames them for their majors. Tells us we aren't trying hard enough. Tests are unnecessarily hard.

Sad it's this professor for such an interesting class. She bases your grade off of 4 tests that are 100% memorization of terms and techniques. Learning is not the priority, instead it is memorization for different benches and tents. Really hard. Tests are super long and require so much memorization. Labs are kind of fun, but professor is demanding

I actually thought prof Jull was really funny. However, 100% of the grade is based on lec and lab tests and if you skip you'll fail. While she covers everything you need to know in lec and lab and no question is really a surprise, it requires a lot of memorization of dense lec slides and she isn't that clear on expectations so is a hard grader!

Laura bases the class on rote memorization. The information is disorganized and frustrating. I wasted a lot of time on this class.

Worst professor I've had at UW. required students to turn assignments outside of class days/times in to rooms that are locked and require a key. expects blunt memorization, NOT understanding of material. Inconsistent and contradictory in feedback and expectations. Flighty and unorganized. This class was MISERABLE.

Very unfortunate professor for such an interesting class. She doesn't know how to own up to not knowing something, which means a lot of self contradictions. Claims to benefit the students by not requiring a textbook but then replaces lecture slides with what could be considered a textbook, all of which MUST be memorized. Terrible organization.

I took her class 6 years ago, but this course was still THE most memorable. She was a tough grader and a harsh person. I remember memorizing flashcards anywhere anytime to trying to keep up with the work/grade. But in the end it all worth it and she was impressed by my hard work.

Plant Propagation with Dr. J is a wonderful class. Although she is definitely not the best professor I've had, she really knows her stuff and can teach you so much. She's an extremely tough grader but takes a lot of time to give feedback on homework and exams and is willing to meet with you outside of class to help you understand the material.

She is an amazing professor that you will learn a lot from. If you're lazy, don't take the class, it is hard and she doesn't expect anything less than 100%. I also took her Plant Propagation class - that one is much more fun than Plant ID. It's an awful class work wise, but you learn so much and she has inspired me in so many ways. GO DR.J!

super hard! super overloaded! lots lots of things to memorize! And the 25-page review package for the exam was definitely not helpful. There is no way to memorize all of those.

Constantly tries to make you feel sorry for her by saying how much time she puts into making the course material when it's her job to do it. Expects you to have no life outside or her class.

Honestly one of the worst experiences I have had with a teacher so far. She thinks she is the best but her powerpoints are nothing but words on words on words. Thinks her class is most important and that we don't have lives outside her class. Stay away from her if possible

Her class is very overloaded. You basically need all of your spare time work on that class. It's just way too much memorization.

Dr. Jull was an awful teacher. She tries to cover too much material and moves too fast. She thinks hers is the only class on campus. Avoid her class at all costs. It was one of the worst experiences of my life.
