Her online course system was confusing, too many little assignments here and there to keep up with per week, and a random group project. For a 3-credit? This's doing too much. She would not let you make up anything you missed, not even under serious circumstances. Very heartless professor. Would not recommend taking any course with her.
- She was my only teachers that didn't let me make up work or extra credit - Used reasons like how I would address her in emails to not give me a certain final grade - She always thinks she's right & won't listen to you. - She said I could get a C if I got a certain score on my final & I got that score she didn't give it to me - Not flexible at all
She will not respond to any emails or posted canvas questions. Her syllabus was outdated and the TA listed was the TA for the class last year and isn't the current one. The current TA's email was not listed anywhere on her page. Go to class or you'll never hear from this woman.
Prof Ashton is super nice and caring! She loves giving out extra credit so go to class and participate in the activities. She's not a great lecturer but there weren't any exams for online so it wasn't a big problem. Most annoying thing is all the group work, every Thursday was group work and if you have a bad group it sucks.
Do not take this class. She is horrible at teaching.
If I would have read the reviews on here first, I would not have taken this course. I can't believe this class happened to me... harder than Econ 101/102. This class moves SO quickly and the exams are impossible to finish in time. I do not recommend this class.
I do not recommend Lydia as a teacher. She reads off the slides word for word which leaves me with unanswered questions a lot of times. On top of that she goes through her slides very quickly. The exams are very long. I did not finish one of them within the class period. Overall would take different teacher if possible.
Avoid this class! I did fine, but seriously taught myself the majority of the material on my own. Prof is boring and just not good at teaching. I left most lectures confused. Her test grading is very lenient which is nice, but that was about the only good thing about the course.
Professor Ashton flies through lectures and half the time, I don't understand anything that goes on. I have to set up extra time with the TA and attend office hours to really learn the material. Because this class is math based, its hard to learn math through a textbook, but in class, the math is not well-taught and steps are not clear.
She is a very fast/nervous lecturer and does not communicate the material well at all. Nearly everyone in my class leaves with a befuddled look on their face, just like me! Also I took an 8am class with her, showed up at 8:04 one day (no exageration) and was marked absent. Avoid her if possible.
It was very easy to get an 'A' in her class because she handed out extra credit at every turn. Her exams are very difficult and the material covered is not usually well-taught, but there a lot of other ways you can make up points. Don't worry, you will do just fine. Show up to class, and you will pass.
She flies through her slides and doesn't explain anything clearly. You have to read the book to understand the class. She blames the low exam averages (64) on students not going to office hours even though she only holds office hours once a week for one hour in the middle of the day - not that she would be able to explain things anyways.
Half of her notes and exam reviews were incorrect, which makes it hard to learn. Assigns discussion posts and articles to read very last minute, if you don't check the class site frequently you can miss an assignment! Don't take unless absolutely have to!!!!
