This was such a fun class to take with such a fun professor. It was so nice to take a class outside of my major that was so specific to our everyday lives. Lowell is funny and relatable and he is so passionate. He loved hearing from the class & getting our input. This felt like a much-needed brain break for me and I looked forward to his classes.

Lowell class lets you learn about UW Madison in interesting way. Lastly I like how he would involve the class to get their opinion on student live about UW Madison.

Very interesting class! The assignments are not something that can be done well last minute, but I really enjoyed how they made me leave my comfort zone to do them. I really loved the guest lecturers that were had and the information that I learned about this campus in this class has made me really enjoy talking about this school to other people!

Lecture attendance is recorded, but doesn't impact grade. All that really matters is discussion attendance and assignments. Since it's a com-b credit, there's a lot of writing, but the topics are interesting and easy to write about. TA's are super chill and grading is easy.

While I truly loved Lowell as a person, I felt that this class seemed to repeat the same information every single week. There were an insane amount of assignments nearing the end of the semester, they could have been better spread out. Everything he says in class, the readings say. It sometimes felt like class was pointless.

Super easy class, but an unreasonable amount of assignments. You don't have to try very hard, as the TAs and Lowell are easy graders, but even my TA admitted that the amount of assignments was unreasonable. TA extended almost every deadline just because there was so much to do.

Lowell is by far my favorite prof. He's approachable, funny, knowledgable, and SUPER passionate! His internet folklore class is engaging and fun, and I learned a lot. He was always eager to hear our thoughts and genuinely cares about his students. He also gave detailed, uplifting feedback and encouraged us to take assignments in our own direction.

Easiest class ever. I took this for my ethnic studies gen ed and as long as you turn in work and go to discussion you'll get an A. I actually enjoyed this class and the TAs are super flexible. One of the only professors I've come across that actually understands that this class is not the top priority for most people.

One of the easiest courses on campus. If you are taking the class just for the grade, you do not need to attend lecture or read materials. Some of the course material can be interesting, so it's worth checking it out. We had two essays throughout the whole year: one audio and one written. The TAs are awesome and easily accessible.

This class is pretty easy, you don't really have to attend lectures or do the readings. He's really hard to listen to because he reads his entire lecture of a paper really fast and gets tripped up on hi own words a lot. He's really passionate about folklore but I honestly haven't had much interaction with him.
