Lisa was rude and unhelpful throughout the semester. She delighted in pointing out when someone asked a dumb question. That being said, she gives a LOT of extra credit opportunities that make it much easier to pass. If you have a TA who isn't strict you should be okay in this class. If you love Medieval Literature this is the class for you. If you're just an English major trying to fulfill your requirements, take another professor. Prof. Cooper is passionate about what she teaches but with expert blindness, her class is incredibly difficult. I don't know what is wrong with this women but something definitely is. I didn't mind her class, it was boring and monotonous, but what really made me angry was Professor Cooper. This woman just loves the sound of her own voice and will talk about things that have nothing to do with the class. Wouldn't be surprised if she was diagnosed narcissist.Rate My Professors ↗
Don't take if you aren't an English major. If you need a lit and ethnic req, take asian am/engl 462. The final is on all material, the tests are completely write in and identify passages and then write an essay about them. Old English is like learning a new language. This class is very dense in material, but grading criteria is clear in her extensive syllabus. Cooper knows a lot about medieval drama and will make class engaging, despite the readings being a bit of a bore sometimes. The final performance, while a lot of work, was also highly rewarding and enjoyable. Attend every class to understand material.Rate My Professors ↗
Cooper is very smart and super knowledgeable in her field. If you pay attention in lecture, you learn a lot. That being said, discussion was sometimes downright uncomfortable: she has a very specific idea of what is right, and will not hesitate to tear apart someone's comment if she doesn't agree with it.
