Most unorganized and unclear teacher I have ever had. I have no idea why an institution like UW continues to pay him. 3 assignments are assigned that are all subjective. The grading requirements for them are all unclear and inconsistent. Interesting topic and material, but not interesting enough to make the class worth taking with Hunt.Rate My Professors ↗
His presentation can be off-putting, he loves to go off on tangents, he seems disorganized, and he has very strong libertarian views. That said, he teaches a very interesting class and forces you to seriously engage in ideas that you might otherwise dismiss outright. Prof. Hunt is a courageous break from the militant statism so rampant among UW-Madison's faculty. Amazing how hard it is to find a philosophy professor who believes in self ownership here. Would highly recommendRate My Professors ↗
The best philosophy professor I've had. Not necessarily "easy;" he expects students to engage seriously with readings & his own ideas on the subject matter. However, he's a brilliant and charismatic teacher, knows his stuff and has really sophisticated views of his own that are WORTH learning, even moreso than the readings, imo.
