Dr. Jensen is a fantastic professor. This class is really interesting and has lots of guest speakers to spice it up. There is a lot of reading, and if you are not one who likes writing papers you will struggle as there are 6 reading responses and a final paper. But I would highly recommend to anyone interested in the topic.

Professor Jensen was an enjoyable and interesting lecturer. The exams are pretty straight forward as long as you go to lecture and do the readings. There is a LOT of reading in this class though so be prepared.

Dr. Katie Jensen is a wonderful teacher and I really enjoyed her lectures. Her area of expertise is South America and she is very passionate about international dynamics and the subjects she teaches. Great intro class would recommend

Professor Jensen and this class were both great! Definitely need to read the textbook and required readings, but if you do that, the tests are pretty easy. Prof. Jensen is so kind and has so much knowledge to share. She talked at length about many examples and was always eager to help clarify concepts. Can't wait to take another one of her classes!

I enjoyed INTL101 very much. She was very nice and respectful , as well as informative in every lecture. There were many interesting papers that give an insight into the world of economics and an interconnected world.

Prof. Jensen has a lot of first-hand experience in international relations, which shouldn't be taken for granted. Her lectures were vague and could get ramble-y and boring, while her grading criteria felt vague and arbitrary.

I think that Katie was a good professor, but the class wasn't adapted very well for the online format. It was 2.5 hours long and it got boring at times. We got one five minute break. There was 100 pages of reading a week, but you can get by with skimming for the most part. She is a pretty easy grader and definitely cares about her students.

Professor Jensen is fantastic! I absolutely loved this class, you learn about so many important, global issues and it made me declare as an International Studies major. You do have to read the textbook and go to class for the tests. There is one difficult essay but worth it for the rest of the course. Love her!

Having taken one of Katie's classes before, I was excited to take this course. And I wasn't disappointed. She has a wonderful way of expanding the way that you think, allowing you to look at the world in a different light.

I often felt like the things she was saying during lecture were extremely vague; she uses A LOT of jargon so she's difficult to understand. However, her assigned readings were extremely interesting and relevant. If you actually do them, the exams are really easy.

Professor Jensen's lectures were very vague, she often went on tangents and the words on her slides often times didn't make sense so you had to pay attention to what she says. There is an insane amount of reading that you have to do I often felt like I was drowning in it. But my TA was extremely helpful in consolidating exam material.

I loved taking this class and the professor. People who hated her hated how much reading there is or were politically adverse to the material. But this class genuinely changes you as a person. I could see what we studied everyday in my life. Be prepared for lots of reading and pop quizzes, but if you put the work in you will be enlightened.

The class covers material that has ability to be engaging and highly though provoking, and a lot of the readings that Prof. Jensen assigns are also definitely so relevant and interesting. However, her lectures are insanely boring and she never digs below anything surface level or encourages us to actually critically think. Just do the reading.

Katie is one of the best professors I've come across. I personally think her grading was too unrealistic (obnoxiously nuanced answers), but the readings she assigns are genuinely interesting. I read all of the assigned reading thoroughly and only managed to squeeze out a B. That being said, I adored the class and the material she covered.

Professor Jensen just isn't it, frankly. She did not present the (potentially intriguing) information well and her PowerPoints were neither helpful nor interesting- they look like she wrote them 5 minutes before class. Exams are way too specific, the long essay is quite arbitrary, and there are pop quizzes. I absolutely would not take her again.

Interesting and easy to listen to. She is very knowledgable about the topics she is discussing, made an effort to get to know students' names in a 300 person lecture. The essay was not that hard, it was essentially just writing enough words to fit the count. Your grade will reflect the amount of reading you do, based on pop quizzes and exams.

Prof. Jensen read off the powerpoint verbatim, and when she didn't she was going off on tangents on topics she felt were relevant. I honestly believe I have had better teachers in high school and middle school than her. Also, her questions on tests/quizzes targeted irrelevant material sometimes. If you do the homework though, the class is easy

One of my favorite professors I've had. She expects a lot, but as long as you do the readings (which are actually interesting) and attend lecture, you'll do well in the class. Three exams and a paper (none of the exams are cumulative). She really wants you to do well and truly understand the topics. Accessible to meet with and extremely helpful!

Jensen is overall a nice person and the work she has done is amazing and inspiring. The class however has way too much reading per week and tests have VERY specific questions from random readings. TAs are decent but really only teach if you ask questions. Also global madison paper graded wayy to harshly by my TA and took up a ton of time to do.

Professor Jensen is not a good lecturer. She goes on tangents, does not stimulate interesting thoughts, and only goes surface-level in the material. I feel like I am coming out of this class with not much more than when I went in. Her exams are very specific and there are long readings (textbook and random articles) due for every lecture.

This class is entirely based on readings and Professor Jensen's opinions on the topics covered. There is potential for the information to be interesting, but she kind of just babbles on trying to sound smart but she's really saying nothing. Be prepared to do every single reading (20-60 pgs per lecture), and each test is 20% of your grade.

Professor Jensen needs to realize that she's teaching an elementary level class and shouldn't expect so much out of her students. There are ton of long readings and many pop quizzes so attendance is mandatory. The topics are pretty interesting but she kind of ruins it.

Professor Jensen treats the class higher than an introduction level course but the material that is covered is applicable to our lives. You have to contribute during lectures and ACTUALLY read the readings. Students who don't are the ones complaining about grades. She has interesting lectures that are very analysis based. Be prepared to read.

Not very good- does not explain things, will not hear other opinions, final grade is based on not many things, Would not take again.

She doesn't take bs and can be passive-aggressive but the lectures are heavily related to the tests and are generally informative. The readings are also heavily reflected by exams but the textbook is incredibly boring. Half of the stuff done/readings are done because it was developed at UW-Madison. Relatively difficult for a 101 class.

While I thought she was just a confident teacher, she really ended up just being a jerk. Wayyyy too much was expected of us for a 101 class. Each exam (3 total) were 20% of our grade. A walking tour that has to be done outside of class, outside of campus, with a paper that is worth another 20% of our grade. If you got a bad grade on one thing, oof.
