Super entertaining and really cares about her students. You can tell she's passionate about what she teaches and that really comes across in her lectures. Very kind and respectful.
She is disappointing compared to previous professor, there is not much preparation she provided for the exam and it's actually annoying.
If you get her for plant biology at 152, relax and pay attention in lectures and you will be fine. She is a professor that actually knows how to teach, make people understand and get interested in plants. She also likes to lighten up the mood with jokes, which is kinda rare (but a good quality) in bio professors
She is very smart! maybe a little expert blindness but she always stops for questions and repeats the most important parts for emphasis! there's so much content in this part of 152 so it's still difficult but she does good job. no practice questions, though
Best professor ever seen at UW-Madison. Her lecture was dense in content, but she explained stuff very clearly and slowly, and she always paused to see if questions popped up. She also occasionally makes random jokes. Do keep in mind that the botany part of Bio 152 requires plenty of memorization.
Lectures were engaging and I felt like I understood what she was teaching. Unfortunately did not have any practive problems so the first exam you have to raw dog. Very helpful office hours, just a LOT of content.
One of the best professors I have ever had! She genuinely cares about her students and is a hoot in lectures. Before the exam she stopped us all to take a deep breath and it actually changed the game. If you have her... LUCKY YOU
Dr. McCulloh is nice and funny but has a BAD case of expert blindness. She often forgets we don't know everything she does, and fails to explain many processes and its extremely easy to get lost in the material, even though it shouldn't be that hard. I think she is a great and caring person, but would benefit from going back to the basics.
Professor McCulloh was able to make plant biology interesting and fun to learn. Would recommend her lectures!
GREAT lecturer... so clear and she makes complicated things easy to understand. Best one of the three professors by FAR. However, be prepared for a hard exam. Follow her lectures carefully and you'll do well.
She is the most funny and personable professor ever. I was actually really interested in the material and wanted to come to class because of her. Botany seemed like a really boring subject to me but I would totally take it again if she taught it.
Kate is an excellent professor. Lectures are engaging and organized. Explanation are mostly clear to understand. Exams are fair. Do not hesitate to ask her if you have any question about plant ecology or physiology!
Prof McCulloh's lectures were very clear and she definitely did a good job engaging students in the material. She was fun to listen to and always had time for questions.
Dr. McCulloh's lectures were informative, engaging and allowed for questions throughout the course of the lectures. There were at some points that she went a little too fast at the end of her section of lectures; however, I think she was a great professor overall. Funny, and warm.
Dr. McCulloh had very fun lectures and could get the students engaged pretty well. She didn't provide any practice Qs except for those she asked during lecture. Her exam felt near impossible, even after studying and using a notecard. That being said, she taught the plant unit and I do not understand nor like plants so if you do, maybe you'll do ok.
She does not give a practice exam and expects us to understand everything. She seems like a cool and nice person but a horrible teacher, there is nothing on her slides, so very difficult to take notes.
Dr. McCulloh has been one of my favorite professors at UW-Madison this far. She's attentive, caring, and hilarious. She is an incredible educator that deserves so much recognition. Only thing to beware of is the tests and quizzes are very difficult and often seem like they have more than one correct answer.
Professor McCulloh does a good job of making the plant biology unit fun and understandable. The only thing I didnt like was the fact that the lectures felt a little disorganized at times. The test was fair but had some poorly worded questions.
Professor McCulloh is really engaging and very funny. She was even able to make the plant unit the part I found most interesting, which is no easy task (sorry botanists). Shes very good about answering questions the class has, and makes sure most people understand what shes talking about before moving on.
Her topic of Bio 152 was plants which I thought was going to be crazy boring, but she managed to make it quite entertaining. She cares about the learning of every student and creates a participating classroom. Such a fun lady and great professor.
She is by far one of the best professors I've ever had! I enjoyed every single lecture! I'm not a huge fan of plants but she made the Plant Physiology section of Zoology 152 such a great time, the test was pretty fair/tough, but she was still an amazing lecturer! TAKE HER IF YOU CAN, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
Teaches plant physiology portion of bio 152. Dynamic in front of a crowd and provides excitement to learning objectives. Take her if you can.
