Fu has an ego like no other. Stopped showing up after week 1.
Attendance was mandatory for discussion but not lecture. Her class was easy as long as you did your work. Assignments where you get walked through SolidWorks more would be helpful instead of throwing people into the deep end. She was super accommodating of mental health issues, being super flexible with extensions and I felt like she genuinely cared
The class is very easy and you seriously don't need to attend lecture after the drawing unit. She doesn't like when people whisper during lecture. When you get to Solidworks, use your lab time to get it done. They don't take long, but you will probably get stuck on something and having your TA to help is nice. Lots of opportunity for extra credit.
This class was quite easy to get an A in. Once you reach the solidworks portion of the class you it is not worth going to lecture, and you need to figure out how to do solidworks pretty much on your own, but overall, the class is pretty much a completion grade. Do your work and you'll be fine, you don't need to attend lectures.
The first 5 weeks of the course, I highly recommend attending (drawing), after that idk. Those solidworks LinkedIn learning videos will get you through the rest. I think the did well teaching the course though I stop attending after the drawing period. It's a easy A class even if you never drawn or did solidworks before (like me).
Many people complain that Professor Fu's class is "too easy". This is a non-issue; "easy" classes are very few in engineering. Professor Fu is always ready to help students, and ensures that anyone who pays attention will become highly proficient in SolidWorks. As long as you actually listen (and refer to her as "professor") you will do well.
Super light class. She sometimes will call people out for even whispering during the lectures which is a little frustrating. Other than that, she is very nice and helpful. Lectures are a skip though because topics have nothing to do with the labs.
While I agree with people here that there are issues with the class structure as a whole, Dr. Fu was a good professor. I had trouble a few weeks into the CAD portion of the class and reached out, and she set aside time to meet with me (while 9 months pregnant) and sit down and work through the projects together. Very understanding and helpful.
Dr. Fu is a decent professor. Her lectures were very dull after the drawing unit. I noticed that most students stoped showing up midway through the semester. She is a very light grader, and as long as you have a good excuse, she will change your grade (which is a good and bad thing).
Lectures are essentially useless, other than that the class is fine.
Lectures are extremely boring and mostly pointless, especially once the drawing unit is finished. You will not be taught how to use CAD and are simply given a new project every week or two. Lab is also pointless, but attendance is mandatory.
Lectures were useless after the first couple of weeks once the drawing unit was over. Very easy to do well in this class if you complete all of the assignments. There are no midterms but there is a final group project. Everything is graded very easily.
Dr. Fu is nice enough, but gets unnecessarily angry when people whisper during lecture. Lecture was almost entirely useless, and lab, although attendance was required, was also pointless. The lab activities were the only decent part of this class, which is good because they are pretty much the only thing that's graded. This class could be online.
The only positive thing about this class is that theres no midterms. Its heavily solidworks heavy and the labs are helpful but discussion is pointless, I went the first one and havent gone since. Google how to do solidworks projects and youll pass just fine.
DO NOT TALK DURING HER LECTURES, SHE WILL PUBLICALLY SHAME YOU... lectures are pointless and a waste of time just go to lab... if you dont know how to use solid works, youtube will be your best friend.
