TA could DETERMINE you grade based on your level of "participation". Which means you can attend all discussion session and ends up with 80% discussion score which gives you AB or lower just because you didn't "talk enough".

Professor Keeler made this course engaging and enjoyable. We studied four different novels, and our understanding was assessed through in-class essays. Participation in class discussions about the novels and lecture material also contributed to our grade.

Professor Keeler was passionate about the subject matter, which made lectures engaging and informative. She was very approachable and helpful outside of class time. The grading policy was straightforward and ensured that students knew exactly what was expected of them.

The lectures were a little dry but gave all the material needed. To defend Prof Keeler and TA Ryan, the papers and exams are easy if you attend class + take notes. I didn't interact with Prof Keeler much, but she was kind. Ryan was nice and very passionate, just don't say something culturally insensitive or he will correct you (nicely).

Graded on 3 exams, participation in discussion, and two papers throughout the entire semester. Left half way throughout semester and instead of having someone take over for lectures gave a joke of a online weekly schedule for us to follow. Exams where open note which was nice but made the class way more stressful than it should have been.

Get ready to read tons and not have it matter at all. I went into the final with a 97% and came out with an AB. I never missed lecture, did all the readings, and attended all discussions. This was extremely stressful and wrecked my GPA. So many regrets with this professor, although the content is interesting. TAs take forever to grade.

-NEVER TKAE RYAN HELLENBRAND as your TA - Grades much harder than any other, and if he doesn't like you he will intentionally & for no reason take off points that "can't be changed" so he can get away with it. He has a monster ego and power trips during discussions and interactions. The Worst experience I have ever had with a PERSON, not even a TA

Professor Keeler has the worst teaching style of any professor I've ever had. She took what could have been a very interesting and informative class and turned it into 50 minutes of reading monotone off a script. She only focuses on dates and legislation, and barely looks up from her script during the lecture. She does not post her slides either.

Kasey Keeler is the most boring professor I have ever had. She reads directly off of her notes every lecture and is completely monotone. Lecture slides are not posted and lectures are not recorded. Shows absolutely zero emotion, basically a robot. YouTube videos would be more engaging. Takes everything way too seriously. Avoid her.

Awful professor, don't take her class if you can avoid it at any cost. She reads off a script for the entire lecture with no actual "explaining" going on. Reads off her script way too fast so taking notes is nigh impossible. Worst thing: She doesn't share her slides or record her lectures so you HAVE to attend lecture.

Professor Keeler did not let me make up a grade-altering assignment after being out due to a serious medical condition. The class was really interesting, but make sure you don't have any issues because otherwise it will throw you for a loop

Extremely slow paced boring martial, reads off the slides entire class. If you want to take fun and encouraging class that will actually make you learn i do not recommend her/ this class. If you're taking CSCS330, I suggest taking another professor's class. I was extremely bored, and the class materials are literally common sense.

Incredibly boring lectures. Prof Keeler would read off of a script and was not engaging. Her quizzes and exams were fair, but you would run short on time. Not very understanding of difficulties with online format.

Loved this class! She was super caring about her students and was accommodating with the pandemic. Even with the online format, the lectures and videos required to watch held my interest and the quizzes and exams were reminiscent of what was covered in lecture. Overall, I appreciated how much I was able to learn in her class despite being online.

I thought Keeler was knowledgeable and passionate about an interesting subject, but she was not a great lecturer and read off a script every class. I was in the class where some guys cheated and she changed the course format for everyone, which I thought was pretty tacky. The class isn't terribly hard but the after-the-fact change was disappointing

Cared about the subject and class. Greate lecturer. Alot of reading but not necessary to get a good grade in the class. Would bring in guest speakers and they were interesting and applicable to the subject we were learning. Great at answering questions.

I learned absolutely nothing from this class. Almost the entire course is discussion-based. No one is demonstrating analytical skills or really digesting material. The only substantive topics were also covered in CSCS300. I was terribly bored in every lecture. Attendance and participation are collectively 35% of your grade. I was so disappointed.

Mixed feelings about the course, took it as an Ethnic Studies requirement due to hearing about it being easy if you do some readings. The material is actually somewhat meaningful if you care (80% didn't). Course format transformed 2 months in because 30 idiots decided to plagiarize. Made this course and exam so hard. Definition of bait & switch

Extremely boring, ineffective lectures. Professor Keeler was constantly reading off a script, lectures were not organized well, and many slides had typos. Attendance was mandatory, but she refused to release her slides from class. Worst of all: 7 weeks into the semester (after drop date) she drastically changed the course format for the worst.

Lectures were boring and she literally read off of a script and always gave us useless extra info that we would never need to know. Not only that, but a lot of the grades are pretty subjective (papers, discussion, participation) which should be an easy A unless you get a bad TA. 2 boys were also caught plagiarizing so she changed the whole course

Lectures are boring and hard to follow to understand main ideas. Saddened that learning about a very important topic for freshman students is being taught poorly. Previous semesters and professors made this class an easy A for the ethnic studies requirement. She somehow manages to make even getting an AB difficult.

Lectures were dull and read straight from the slide. The entire format of the class changed due to people supposedly cheating on a homework assignment. Attendance taken at every lecture and discussion section. Overall I was disappointed by the discrepancy between class material and course description.

One of the worst professors I have ever had. She obviously reads off notecards during lectures which is annoying to listen to. The class itself is an easy A but if you take it you need to cite everything possible! A few people did not cite on a small HW assignment so she changed the final from a take home to an in class with mc and 2 full essays.

Prof Keeler is very sweet, but lectures are extremely boring. She typically just reads off slides and there is little structure. Extremely disappointed by what this class could have been.

One of the worst professors I've ever had the misfortune of having. I'm writing this review, my first ever, to specifically highlight her inability to articulate thoughtful, relevant viewpoints. Imagine the most boring, disinteresting subject of all time and it still wouldn't do service to the irrelevancy of this class.

Clueless professor. Just reads off the computer and bad lectures. Changed syllabus from no final to a scheduled final
