Lots of reading for discussion and it is necessary because it is how you write your papers. The lectures are interesting and fun, but not mandatory and while the majority of exams cover the lecture material, it is discussed a bit in discussion. Heavy on reading with a couple big papers. A lot of the paper work is done in discussion. Can be boring at times but lectures aren't usually too dry and she is a wonderful lecturer who adds spice and humor to each class. Loves what she does and has great TAs working with her.Rate My Professors ↗
Karma is an amazing woman! I didn't particularly like the topic of the class, but she was always there to help and was very responsive to emails. I recommend taking any class with her and going to her office hours just to chat. She works on a lot of cool things at UW and has a lot of knowledge to share.Rate My Professors ↗
Karma is the coolest and she knows a lot about this subject. Lectures were made interesting by her explanations and connections to life that were relatable. Grading really depends on your TA, but Karma does give clear assignment instructions in the syllabus. Not too hard of a class, just be ready for four 500-word papers and regular reading.Rate My Professors ↗
Karma is Awesome. class is super interesting. 4 500 word papers, 1 is 1500. 2 tests including final. TA's grade papers very hard, seems like no matter how good it is you get a low B on papers. TA's "don't give out A's" ... always want you to strive for better. Despite this, super interesting class, learned a lot. Try to get meg as a TA, not Jaiwen.Rate My Professors ↗
Karma is a nice lady and knows what she's talking about. She grades very harsh on papers and assigns many. Exams are completely memorization, be ready to memorize every term from every lecture. Lecture is optional, but the slides posted online do not have most of the information you need in order to do well on exams.Rate My Professors ↗
