Very caring professor. Put extra effort into helping me with different obstacles and takes time to know and invest in his students. Gives lots of opportunities to improve your grade. Doing the exercises to completion will help you succeed. Prof. notices if you are putting in extra effort and is helpful in return, which is always nice.

Fun class. There is no piazza for the course which makes it really difficult to ask questions.

The content was good, but there were midterms and exams in a class that was extremely project heavy. It didn't really make sense to have exams because it was a lot of fill in the blank code and conceptual questions, when the class was entirely application based in the projects that compounded together over the semester

The content was very enjoyable, regardless of Joe being difficult to work with at times. He sometimes understands certain situations, such as exam conflicts. I still believe he is a very difficult professor, but the content in this course is very useful.

Krachey hands down is the best professor in the department. The class is a lot of work and a lot of coding, but is really interesting and super practical. I never felt like the assignments were unfair, and grading policies were super kind. It is important to show up - If you go to class and put your best effort in on every assignment, you do well

I went to his office hours and he always have a tired face. He is impatient and make you feel like you are asking stupid questions. One of my friend went to office hour and ask about solution towards failure on his homework grade and he told my friend: "There is nothing I will do. Just drop the class." I feel very discomfort with this professor

Hard but incredibly rewarding class. Krachey clearly knows and cares about the value of this class to ECE students and was helpful throughout the process. Definitely recommend this class, but be sure to work early and often. Order components ASAP, as the payment hurdles Joe has to jump through meant some orders arrived very late into the semester.

He was overly kind and considerate for a lot of exam issues and project issues. He extended many deadlines for class assignments when a lot of the students were having problems. He was very straightforward when answering questions too, and did not make you feel dumb for not knowing even a simple question. My favorite professor and class to this day

I have had Krachey for 3 or 4 classes and he is the best. Super nice guy and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended

He is quite the funny guy, the class is a reverse style lecture, where actual lectures are once a week and the rest of the classes are spent doing Canvas activities which resemble the tests and homework.

Overall an average class. Exercises and homework were frustrating, not due to difficulty, but for the poor and complicated instructions. If you do not have a basic understanding of computers and code, this class will take a lot of effort to get an A. The class gets worse as the semester goes on, but it is manageable.

There were a few short videos to watch before each class period, where we did collaborative exercises in small groups. Pretty easy A if you're careful with checking your answers during exercises and exams. Exams were every three weeks. Didn't have much interaction with Krachey. He also excuses students with mid A's or above from taking the final.

Honestly loved Joe as a teacher and the class as a whole. The class is VERY easy as long as you come in with some very basic understanding of programming and watch all of the lectures. Joe made the class interesting and was very helpful throughout. I'm very satisfied with him as a teacher, and I would happily take another class with him.

Professor Krachey was good for ECE252. Not the most inspirational lecturer, but very clear, and did his best to answer all questions as they came in. Didn't assign a ton of homework either. Show up, pay attention, do the work and you should do fine.

This is more of a review of the class, as I never saw Prof. Krachey in the online format. This isn't really a complaint as the class is simply very clear and organized. You just have to watch 2-3 short videos each week on lecture material and then complete lots of practice problems with a small group. If you have questions, he is very accessible!

Fairly easy class, professor only helps with doubts and he's good. Not much else to it.

Krachey was a great teacher for a first year engineering class. He's a real engineer with real experience, and isn't there to baby kids around. He definitely knows the material, and is always happy to help out when he can. ECE 252 was a blast with him.

Krachey teaches ECE252 in a flipped classroom format, which means that you look at videos outside of class and then you work on exercises in class. This means that you have to go to pretty much every class. Krachey walks around in class and you can ask him questions as you are working on the exercises. He gives good feedback and is very friendly.

He's a good guy that looks out for you.

Joe is a great professor and is very approachable if you have any questions. He keeps course content up to date and sends out emails if any assignments change (so make sure to check your email).

Really liked the class. My section was WisCel taught which is always good. Prof. Krachey was solid. Answered questions when you had them, accessible when you needed him. No complaints. Also if you do well enough in the class you can skip the final which is awesome.

Pretty straightforward class that's not too difficult. My section of this class had lectures online and in-class exercises, so he was very willing to help us understand what we didn't get from the online lectures. While he may be a little dry, he is a good guy and a good professor who is good at explaining the concepts.

The whole course is basically about self-learning. He is only responsible for answering questions. No textbook only reading and video. Many concepts in reading lack of clarity. 2 wiscels per week. Give you 300-400 pages data sheet. Go and learn yourself. Be prepared for writing code in exam. Be cautious to details. He is a tough grader.

Make sure you complete the ICE each week to fix any bugs for the final project. Find a friend who took it before hand to look over past exams. Give more time for the final project than you think.

He's very helpful over email and in person, and the class isn't too hard. The final project lets you take the everything you've learned and make any game you want out of it. The tests are not tricky at all, but you need to know the material to do well.

Class itself is reasonably easy, and even easier if you watch the relatively short lecture videos first - Show up, take a quiz on moodle + write a program. Homework starts out easy, + gets progressively harder. The final project is tough. That said, you WILL come out having learned something.

ECE 352 with get you an instant internship with We-Design-Stuff Inc. 10/10 would take this class again.

Knows what he is talking about, and teaches the class very well. In class exercises are very helpful for learning the material, but exams can be tough. A fair amount of effort is expected on the homework, and final project.

Very knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable. The class is pretty light and the homework isn't too tough.

His grading sometime is ridiculous. He is also very weird. He might be nice, but not nice to everyone.

cant really talk to him, its awkward

Great professor. Helpful and clear. Very nice guy.

Krachey one of the best professors that I have ever had. Helpful in and out of class. Wish I wasn't a slacker and learned more from him

He's extremely approachable and easy to listen to during lecture. Very straight forward exams and teaching style. One of the best professors I've had. If you can take a class with him, do it.

Good professor. Enjoyed going to class. Tells you what you need to know and is very helpful. The book - not so much.

Joe is an insanely chill guy. He's basically a real world engineer with real world experience, and he teaches people the difference between relevant knowledge and unimportant details for engineering in the working world. His tests are challenging, but he is very approachable and can clarify any questions you have. All in all a very good prof.

He was really helpful with class material and also when I went him with industry related question. Cool guy to know!!

One of the better instructors at UW-Madison! He's got good industry experience in embedded systems, so he knows his stuff and is in touch with what you actually need to know before you go and work. Homeworks are often difficult. He's very approachable in office hours. All he does is teach, so he's not distracted with research.

Cool guy; he posted old lecture videos online so you didn't really *have* to attend. Lectures were definitely worthwhile though since the book was a bit dry. Pretty easy homework and exams.

He is the best instructor I have had yet. He presents material very well. He is very willing to answer questions. His homework assignments are sometimes tough but always enjoyable and informative. Tests are not too difficult if you pay attention. He is very easy to talk to. Highly recommended!

He's super helpful and willing to re-explain stuff esp. during office hours. hw and wksts were similar to test questions. labs were a little time consuming and slightly difficult but not too bad. didn't use the book very much. def recommend him though. great professors.

Super nice guy, very helpful and clear with course information. I can't stand studying hardware, but he made it not super awful. Highly recommended.
