The course is very easy to learn, Jonathan is a great professor and is very clear on what he's talking about during the lecture. The exams are not that bad it is just 50 minutes of writing an essay from an article he provided a week before. A lot of extra credit is given.

Perfect class! Attendance isn't mandatory + plenty of extra credit. Content was easy. Professor Senchyne is fantastic. Besides the 2 in-class essays (very easy), everything is open-note, including the weekly online quizzes and the online take-home final exam. Idk what more you could ask for in a class!

Perfect class! Attendance isn't mandatory + plenty of extra credit. Content was interesting and easy. Professor Senchyne is fantastic. TAs are extremely chill. Lectures were not very saturated and had too much information that was not about the class. TAs were great though.

Professor Senchyne is so far my favorite professor. Lectures are fun and note taking isn't needed if you pay attention. Quiz and discussion prep once a week that is always easy and doesn't take much time. The 2 prelim exams are very simple and made for you to get a good grade. Extra credit as abundant throughout semester. Would recommend

Professor Senchyne is wonderful! I can tell he deeply cares about his students and the subject matter this class is based around. I would recommend taking this class if you're looking for an easy way to get your ethnic studies requirement. Some weeks are more reading heavy than others but you can get away with skimming them.

Professor Senchyne is Amazing. No midterms just 2 papers and one smaller "meme" assignment. Class is super well structured. 1 easy discussion post every week and a simple 4-5 question quiz every week that can be done with ease. Final is easy take home. Lots of extra credit if you even need it because this class is that easy. Overall amazing class

Easy ethnic studies and humanities credits. Lectures were well done, he's fun and goofy. If you're not too easily affected by secondhand embarrassment, you'll like him. Assignments were easy and the papers were not hard. Would definitely recomend.

Worst course ever taken.

I took this class for my ethnic studies requirement and it was very doable. Weekly 4 point quizzes and weekly discussion preparations that were fairly easy. Only 3 major projects that were also very easy. Lectures were somewhat disorganized and he kinda just rambles, but overall the content was pretty interesting. Extra credit available too.

Prof. Senchyne was great! He is a fun lecturer and you can tell he really cares about his students. The workload was very manageable and there are many extra credit opportunities. Overall recommend him and this class!

Super fun professor, lectures are pretty engaging and he likes to use formats that are relatable to younger people (memes, videos, etc). If you show up to lecture there are a lot of extra credit opportunities and if you show up to lecture + discussion you're guaranteed a good grade to be honest. The workload for this class is very manageable.

The professor and class exhibit concerning biases. The selected TAs struggle with English proficiency and communication. Lectures have no evidence supporting his claims. Would not take a class with this prof again.

Very enthusiastic professor. You'll get an A as long as you do the work on time. You honestly do not even need to attend lecture. Only roughly 2% of your final grade is based on random exit tickets that are his way of measuring attendance. You however should go to your weekly discussion group.

Professor was great! Consistently made efforts to present the content in a way which was interesting and unbiased. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Quizzes were extremely easy. If you go to lecture and discussion, getting an A should not be hard.

Prof. Senchyne runs this class well - his lectures are engaging and usually topical. As long as you show up and participate in the course material, you will have no problems.

Senchyne is a great professor and a good guy to talk to. He is available during office hours and always willing to have a meaningful conversation. His lectures were never dull; however, attendance is not mandatory as the slides are comprehensive enough to review while doing assignments. Assignments are easy but tedious.

Professor Senchyne is engaging and entertaining. He's passionate about his teachings and goes in-depth in his lectures. Overall, great ethnic studies course with little weekly course work.

Highly recommend, he is a good instructor and really cares.

Excellent professor. A reasonable amount of very practical assignments with easy to envision future career relevance. Lots of reading, interesting eye-opening class discussions which influenced some of my viewpoints, and no ridiculous nit-picky quizzes. Take any class Jonathan teaches, you will be happy with the choice.

tries to make lecture interesting and content relatable. very passionate about his study. easy class

Required class for the MA degree. He focuses a lot on the history of libraries and the debates that shape the problems libraries face today. A lot of reading, but if you come to class with something to say you'll be fine. He does a good job guiding discussion, even if sometimes he lets people go off in weird directions. He cares about students.

He is a very interesting teacher with many good attributes. Always finds new ways to make the class fun, including dressing up, making pop culture references, and bringing in his baby.

Really interesting intersection of print culture and literature. Dude also loves a good meme. Very engaging.
