Dr. Pauli is a very nice professor, and he makes lectures engaging. The textbook for the ecology module is long with lots of vocab, but reading it does help a lot. The homework assignments for the ecology module are longer than the other modules (evolution and plants), and the exam is the hardest of the 3 exams in my opinion.

He's a decent lecturer. He talks a lot about examples in lectures. He tries to be hip and cool but that's hard to do as a millennial, no offense. I'm in his lecture right now and he's wearing flip flops... I'll leave it there

Dr. Pauli is a good lecturer. He does tend to get very off topic and lectures are usually miles behind lab and discussion homeworks. I'm currently typing this in his lecture because he's been on the same slide for like 15 minutes. Personally never went to office hours, but he seems willing to help. He is also in flip flops with cargo pants rn.

Dr. Pauli is a pretty good lecturer. He sets clear emphasis on important lecture slides. He is very passionate about ecology, the section of BIO152 he teaches, which shows energy and enthusiasm. He also tries to be entertaining to us "youngsters," which is evidence that he does care. His textbook has SO MANY vocab words, so be prepared.

He is an interesting character. He loves what he teaches but he thinks he is cooler than he is. He also wears flip-flops everyday.

Pauli is engaging, intelligent, condescending, difficult to work with, & inflexible unless you have official accommodations. Does not read emails past first 2 sentences. To stay sane: go to ALL labs, collaborate with your classmates, do lab reports & memos EARLY. Pray your TA is good. You will learn a lot, but plan to be in hell for the last month.

Difficult to recommend. While outwardly friendly and charismatic, his grading policies are authoritarian and his advice is condescending. It's mixed overall, but potentially a good experience depending on your goal for the course.

Great prof, would definitely take his class again if given the chance

Hilarious and engaging, even if ecology isn't quite your cup of tea.

Dr. Pauli seems like a nice guy who knows a lot about the subject he teaches, but I personally did not enjoy his teaching style. He tended to go off on tangents that overcomplicated the subject. Because of this lecture style it did feel like important material was not covered. It is possible to do well, but more work on your own is required.

Pauli was a great lecturer, which could be frustrating as he doesn't rely on text from his slides. But overall, I feel the most engaging of the 152 profs. He was kind; however, I will agree with most that his textbook notes were extensive, but most are anecdotes that may be skimmed. Makes it clear what should be known for the exam w golden slides.

Overall a solid professor in my opinion. His readings were a little long, but his lectures were interesting and he seemed enthusiastic about his work as well. Comes off as a friendly, knowledgeable fellow.

Dr. Pauli was a great lecturer for the ecology unit in 152, his textbook chapters were a little bit longer, and his discussion homeworks were more complex but he clearly showed passion for his subject and made sure to go through concepts in detail both in the textbook and in lecture. Seemed really nice and caring for his students as well.

By far the worst of the 3 bio152 profs. His textbook is way too long, not to mention the typos. Quiz questions are hard, and his unit exam was by far the hardest even though ecology should've been the easiest unit; some questions made no sense. Thinks wearing flip-flops and swearing every other sentence in lecture makes him cool and relatable.

His slides barely have any info, so you are screwed if you do not show up to lecture. Textbook is super long and hard to get through. Quiz questions are ridiculously confusing and the final exam questions were too difficult as well. Spent hours studying and still walked out feeling poorly about the outcome of the exam.

This man expects students to know things via prophetic visions. Homework focuses on the concepts that are barely covered in lecture, and are not in the lecture slides. Relies too much on spoken word, easy to miss things. The textbook is written by the prof, and aside horrendous writing craft, does not contain the missing material either.

Professor Pauli is one of the most disrespectful professors I have interacted with. Me and others have been insulted when asking questions, making the classroom a hostile environment. There is no respect for our time and schedules, as many of our labs required that we stay hours after, while he heads out early. The class itself it very interesting.

Seems like there is some projecting onto the students (possible daddy-issues). Expects that students should be the best right off the bat no matter what. Can berate and discourage learning because of it. Can be flexible at times, but can make wild claims on why the student may not reach their goal, such as saying they did not pay attention.

Fantastic professor, very charismatic and knowledgeable! Lectures and weekly lecture quizzes were moderately difficult, but not unmanageable, and lab is so much fun. Make sure you show up to the labs more than anything. Lab memos due at halfway point in the semester, lab reports due at the end, no final. Stay on top of these reports!

Dr. Pauli was great. His lectures were super fun and the topics made sense within lecture. His quizzes were a bit harder. I think everyone I talked to scored lower in them than previous units. But the Unit Exam was not bad at all. There are lots of textbook pages to read per day, but actually read them! It will make more sense.

Pauli is passionate about ecology, but his exam is weirdly worded. I hated how each question had all of the above or none of the above options because it was meant to trip everyone up. The exam itself wasn't terrible, but study and understand all of the concepts taught. He's a great lecturer and good person to talk to, regardless of his profanity.

His lecture is pretty good, and full of logic. I can feel his passion on ecology

Professor Pauli makes lectures incredibly entertaining. He likes iClicker, but not nearly as much as the professors from the other two bio modules, but its still easy to participate and engage with the lectures. Would definitely take another class with him

Prof Pauli gave great lectures that kept material interesting and engaging. Great person to have conversations with too.

I had him for the ecology section in bio152 during spring '20, so it was online due to corona. but, even then he was very good. smart, passionate, available for questions, responded to emails fast, and just an overall nice person! do the practice test/questions he provides! every slide in the lectures is important.

I had him during Covid-19 so this may be skewed, but overall he really cared about all of the students, and almost all students who cared about the class got an A on his section. Plus his lectures were entertaining too

Dr. Pauli is a straight G! I loved his unit! He made ecology simple and super super interesting by giving real life examples. Exam was straight from the notes. No complains. Would love to take another ecology class with him!

I loved the whole Bio152 course except for Professor Pauli's module. His lectures were confusing & it was hard to take notes because some slides had paragraphs of text and some had only pictures. The equations used in the unit were poorly explained & it was unclear how to use them. His labs & discussion activities were way more work than necessary.

I am a music major, took this class, was very easy!

This professor was very excited about his subject and did a good job in lecture explaining concepts, but tries to appeal to students too much. Notes and video recordings are available online. The unit covered a lot of concepts, and it was hard to know what to expect for the exam. No practice tests or problems are provided. Exam was quite hard.

Very funny and entertaining guy. He was able to cover a lot of material in a short time, and did a good job explaining things and connecting concepts. Quiz and exam questions could be a little tricky, and he didn't provide a practice exam. Overall, the subject matter was interesting, and he gave lots of cool examples and stories.

Pauli is a cool person, terrible prof. He asks ambiguous questions that you are supposed to read into to find the answer. The exam is way harder than it needs to be and studying wont prepare you. Avoid this lecturer unless you have an ecology background!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pauli does a decent job with lectures and providing many examples of the different concepts, however, he is not great at answering questions from students. Additionally, his quiz questions are often ambiguous or test on random specific facts, rather than general concepts.

Pauli was a very entertaining and engaging professor. He always had interesting lectures and personal stories that related to the content. Sometimes his quizzes were challenge, but if you study you'll do well. Make sure to work on the final lab notebook throughout the semester instead of waiting until the end.....I learned that the hard way .

Kinda rude to botanists. He tries to keep you interested and gives lots of examples. Test was wayyyyyy harder than it needed to be.
