An incredibly intelligent guy with some really bright moments in class when talking about his work. However, lecturing is not his strong suit. Drop in tutoring and reading the textbook will be your friends. Class is important as he will mention important stuff not sent in emails(like when homework is due) and gives extra credit quizzes.

Professor Perepezko is a very intelligent man and clearly knows his stuff. Showing up and paying attention in lectures is the most important factor in this class and you'll leave better for it.

Dr Perepezko is no doubt the smartest professor Ive ever met. If the class size were smaller it would probably be the most useful engineering class there is, but having 40 people makes it hard to follow. The class is HARD and way more time consuming than I expected. The final was not cumulative and covered 400 pages of a research like textbook

Prof. Perepezko is one of the smartest scientists and researchers. He genuinely knows what he's talking about. His problem is that he is a atrocious lecturer. He doesn't know how to properly educate undergrads. He has a obnoxiously unrealistic expectations of his students. There is no book, so your best source are your peers, work together.

amazingly smart, horrible communicator

The most useful course. John is a good teacher. I'm glad that I took the course

No doubt he is one of the smartest people in the department, but he is definitely not of the best teachers. His teaching style is messy and hard to follow. The only material provided for this class was notes we had to buy but it was completely useless. The readings were too difficult to understand coming straight from MSE 351.

I love to take his class. A lot of demonstrations and useful knowledge for my future work

John is definitely one of the best and worst professors you will have in your career. I say this as he is one of the smartest guys at this school, but he has trouble translating this to the classroom. I recommend getting to know his as he is a cool guy, but be forewarned, his class will not be easy, and tests are extremely challenging.
