This class could've been easy if they weren't such hard graders. For a class focused on meditation and "flourishing," they really loaded up on the busy work! Things are graded harshly when we were really just supposed to write about our own experiences and opinions, so I don't know how you can take away points for personal opinion papers

This class was such a drag. The content feels like a chapter in an intro psych course stretched out over a whole semester. Most of the content is topics that are "up to interpretation" and have no concrete answer. The weekly quizzes are on minute details randomly brought up sometime during the past week. That being said, the class isn't that hard.

I really think the problem with this class is the class structure and not the professors themselves. There is no curve, and the content is not very straightforward. Lots of "up to your interpretation" stuff, but then you get a bad grade on an assignment for not answering from the professor's interpretation.

I thought this class would be like an intro to psych course, but it is more of a philosophical theory. There are like 5 professors and all but one had never taught undergrad before. Their expectations for essays and group projects are unclear. The main prof doesn't let you see your grade bc "canvas is wrong". I did fine in the class though.

I had Dunne for psych 120 and the course was structured terribly. the entire class feels like a simple idea that could be covered in one lecture but is stretched out over an entire semester. your grade is based on terribly explained essays and quizzes with recycled questions which the lectures don't prepare you for at all. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS

this was a pretty boring class but SOOO easy. if you want an easy A, this is the class for you. in one lecture he rung a bell and asked us if we were sitting and then talked about that for a good 10 min?? you do need to come to class tho. 11% of grade was attendance, so dont miss lec or dis. discussion is just meditating. essay was also easy.

The material of the class is only somewhat interesting and Professor Dunne is a somewhat nice guy. Everything else about the class was bad. Quizzes are 10 minutes long and based off of readings that can be upwards of 20 pages. The expectations of papers are unclear and often misinterpreted by TAs. I would not recommend this class, nor this teacher.

Every week, there is a quiz, readings, a journal, and a practice log that has to be submitted. The quizzes are 10 questions in 10 minutes and they aren't on anything discussed in lecture. An easy class to get an AB or B in, but a lot of work and is very boring.

JUST TAKE IT! It will be one of your most favourite classes. I recommend getting to know Professor Dunne after class and during office hours. Lectures are great, make sure you read before you go to class. Don't be late. I would take it again.

The Distinguished Chair in Contemplative Humanities at the Center for Healthy Minds at UW-Madison. This being said he lectures like a lecturer, not like a chair and this makes some great lectures. If you can, take "Theory and Practice of Human Flourishing" you won't regret it.
