Prof shows a deep knowledge about the subject. Passionate about material. A couple of lectures were focussed on the practical applications where the instructor brought some hardware prototypes to go over in the class. I found it very interesting.
Prof Jinia Roy has clear interest and passion for the material and content for the class. I would say the bulk of the work we do it during class time, which is helpful as whenever I have a question I know I'll have ample opportunity to ask. She is always available to answer questions.
I had an awful experience with her. She frequently makes mistakes, as if she doesn't know her own lectures. It's very hard to learn anything from her in class. She makes students lose interest in the topics. She should not be a professor!!
Ideas and concepts are presented in an easy-to-understand matter. The instructor does a good job stopping to ask for questions and ensure understanding during in-class sessions. The review class was very helpful in the preparation for the Final Exam. I felt a lot of HWs were there but it prepared us for the quiz and exam very well.
Prof Roy explains the content well and in a catchable pace. It is very helpful to have more of an explanation about what we are doing and why it is applicable. There have been multiple occasions that the professor brought up something that wasn't in the lecture video that really helped my understanding of the topic. Overall, I enjoyed the class.
She's willing to help her students. She's always happy to help you in lectures and her office hour. As a non-native speaker, Prof. Roy listened to me patiently and helped me out. Overall, she is fantastic and worth recommending, just as I did.
Avoid taking ECE-342 course with this professor. Take the course with someone else. She is a terrible lecturer and lacks a clear understanding of the lecture materials. She keeps contradicting her own explanations all the time.
The Professor is knowledgeable, stress a lot on the learning. The exams can be tough, but the course content is well organized.
Extremely bad professor. Ruined an extremely important topic of EE for me. DO NOT TAKE HER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. DROP. DROP. DROP.
I truly don't understand what UW thought hiring her as a professor, she should not be a lecturer.
Not the worst class I've taken, but one of the worst. The professor and TAs contradict each other often. It's frustrating to learn anything in this class because they don't make the correct way of solving problems clear and then don't release solutions to the exercises or homework assignments after they're graded.
Pre class lectures are often posted only day or two before class, full solutions with clear explanations rarely given. Structure of course is okay but gaining a full understanding of topics in the course is difficult do to since solutions often overlooked when recapping. I would find another professor if looking to take this course.
1. Lectures are not good enough to explain the subject or approach the papers 2. In-class exercise's solutions are not released and are quickly looked over and you cannot take pictures of them. 3. Reviews for exams are released with no solutions to refer to, just questions Unnecessary hurdles to get solutions for class and homework are annoying
She did not justify the value of this course. Lectures were extremely substandard level to the subject of Power Electronics and reputation of University of Wisconsin Madison.
Just take ECE412 with someone else. The lectures are just really bad and don't prepare you for the in class exercises.
She makes students lose interest in subject.
She always contradicts her own explanation.
