I could not recommend him more for ISYE 323!!! I went into the class thinking it was going to be extremely difficult but he made the concepts easy to understand and enjoyable. The class being at 8 am was rough but he posted the recordings. He made an effort to learn every students name and genuinely cares to see us succeed.
Lectures were so beneficial - engaging and educational! Luedtke himself is a kind and interesting guy who seems to want students to actually learn, and is very understanding and accommodating of life. He made one of the worst ISyE classes a) understandable b) interesting enough that I want to take more classes on the topic. Highly reccomend.
I honestly really liked the course itself and the content, but I felt that Prof. Luedtke was extremely rude and condescending to anyone that wasn't an expert in optimization. Not many choices for 323 professors, but if you take Prof. Luedtke be prepared to put in a lot of time and to be ridiculed if you ask questions.
He really does care about all the students. No doubt, the material is hard, and you will have to work for your grade. The only negative thing I have to say is that he often has mistakes in lecture notes, exams, and hw. Sometimes the mistakes can inhibit learning b/c it makes the content confusing. But ask him and he will correct it immediately.
One of the best professors I've had at UW. His lectures are very well structured and strike a right balance between applications and math. His assignments really help in understanding what was covered in class. I would highly recommend his class!
Very good professor. Clear Powerpoints and examples in lecture. Everything is posted online. Homework is relevant and reasonable. Midterms are reasonable as well. Book is huge, but actually decent.
Fantastic professor! Explains everything in great detail, works through lots of examples, cares about the students' understanding and is very helpful during office hrs. HW is challenging, case studies are VERY time consuming and the course in general is no piece of cake. The homework quizzes help a lot in learning the material. Highly recommended!
