Professor Foltz was an engaging lecturer. Jeremy taught the 2 economics section of the course. The class is graded by 4 homeworks 3 exams and a quiz. All the assignments are easy and assessments were not difficult, they are multiple choice basically right off the slides. Every lecture was recorded and you don't need to read the textbook to succeed.

I really enjoyed having Jeremy as a professor he's engaging, approachable, and genuinely helpful. The exams are challenging, so don't expect an easy A, but if you put in the effort to understand the concepts and graphs, the material is manageable. The course is well-structured, and support is readily available when you need it.

Although the exams for this class were hard, it was very easy to get help from the TA's or the professor. Attendance was not mandatory, but I would still go because professor Foltz because I could tell how much he cared about the content. Overall, a great professor and I would love to have him again.

Professor Foltz is an amazing professor. Lectures were recorded (with slides included) on Canvas. Grading is very fair. Homework like every 2-3 weeks but it was easy, simple, and was actually useful (not busy work). It is clear he is passionate about his line of work. Like the other review, I lowkey want to switch my major to AAE too now lol

Loved this prof. It's clear he is passionate about this class and African development in general. Exams were a breeze -- all short answers that were usually answered in the lectures. If you put an ounce of effort it, it will be rewarded. Go to OH! One of the nicest profs I've had. This class convinced me to switch my major to AAE from econ.

Very nice Professor who is very respectful. The classes are interesting but you need to be interested in the topic. For me it was a great class in which I learned a lot about African countries and I guess I will not forget about it in my life.

His lectures are hard to follow at times. With that being said, what you put into the course is what you will get out. He tries to award quite a bit of credit to any answer. I found that even if I had mentioned a concept just not the term, he would give me most of the points. Go to his office, he is a tough lecturer but is better one on one.

I was honestly looking forward to taking this course but instead it is possibly one of the worst classes I have taken. Foltz drones on and on about topics that aren't even discussed in the problem sets and exams. Grading is very specific and demeaning. Try to avoid this course with him! You will not enjoy it.

Why...? is a question I ask myself a lot in this class. Why did I come class today? Why are there only 10 people in class even though lecture is mandatory? Why didn't I drop this class after the first lecture? Why does Foltz say "ummm" every other word? Why are our problems sets 40% of our grade, yet unrelated to everything from lecture or tests?

Class wasn't as interesting as it could have been. Prof read off of text heavy PPs and he doesn't post them so you spend the class frantically copying notes. There's a big paper/two exams that make up the bulk of the grade. Don't buy the books or do any of the readings. If I had to go back I'd probably have rather taken a different econ elective.
