Professor Saffran is my all time favorite Professor I have ever had. You could tell that she was extremely passionate about the subject, which made students become more engaged. She was super accessible outside of the classroom by office hours and email. She clearly outlined what we were going to be assessed on, and her exams were extremely fair.
Dr. Saffran was one of the best professors I've had. Plenty of extra credit opportunities to boost your grade. Assignments were interesting and very doable. Exams were fair, and the professor held online review sessions/office hours before each one. Lectures were engaging, and the professor's passion was evident in each one.
Jenny is amazing! You can tell she loves what she does & truly cares about and respects her students. She keeps the lectures intriguing and lets you know what you do/don't need to know for exams. Also, she offers several extra credit opportunities which can bump your grade way up.
Jenny is an amazing professor. I am currently taking her class as my main class in my FIG (First-Year Integrated Group), Language and the Human Experience. While she only grades you on participation, two papers, and a creative project, it is still one of my easiest classes. She wants you to succeed. Jenny is very approachable and easy to talk to.
She's so sweet! Jenny was featured in the Netflix documentary Babies, and you can see why. She's super passionate about her subject, engaging, and knowledgeable. I loved her class!
Jenny is one of the best professors I've had so far! She really cares about her students and wants them to do well. Her lectures are super interesting and although the lecture was on the larger side, it felt like it was less than 50 people. Her exams and assignments are also very fair. I highly recommend you take psych 460 with her!
Professor Saffran is honestly one of the best professors I have had at UW. She cares a lot about her students and wants you to succeed. When classes went online her class was the easiest for me to transition to. She offers a lot of extra credit, is an extremely fair grader and overall a very kind and knowledgeable professor. Take her class!!
Jenny was a blessing, especially when classes moved online. She truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Lots of extra credit opportunities and tests are based on applying concepts from class rather than memorization. Textbook readings are "assigned", but you only really need to use it for some of the papers and projects.
Jenny is amazing! I loved her class so much. She is so sweet and caring and really wants to help you succeed. Come to lecture- her lectures are always super interesting. She is one of my favorite professors in college by far. Love love love Jenny! Definitely take this class.
Amazing professor who truly cares about her students! If you go to class and pay attention to lecture you will do fine in the class. She makes the material interesting so it is easy to learn and a really awesome person!
Jenny really loves what she does and her lectures are very interesting and engaging. She offers plenty of extra credit opportunities and is accessible outside of class. If you have to take this class, take it with her. Decently easy for a 500 level class (the new code is 460 now I think) and you don't need to read the textbook.
Jenny is very passionate about child development and it shows when she's teaching. Her enthusiasm is energizing. Exams (3) are multiple choice plus a quiz an easy project and EC. I didn't read the book but could have got an A on the exams if I did. Without reading I got a BC. Attendance is not mandatory, but she does not post lecture slides.
Professor Saffran is awesome! Her exams were a little tough, but nothing that bad. She's a great lecturer and is ready to answer any question, in and out of class. I highly recommend taking child psych with her if you can. She has personal experiences that really add to the class.
She's a fantastic teacher and knows a lot of information from her field. Her tests are extremely difficult and you really have to think hard about the subtle differences in the answer choices. With that being said, she does offer extra credit and she's always available outside of class. She makes you work for it but she supports you every step!
Jenny is absolutely fantastic. She is passionate about education and child psychology and truly tries to make her students feel the same. She is so unbelievably kind hearted and is always trying to help out students. She's also brilliant and a heavy force in her field. I cannot recommend her enough.
I absolutely LOVED this class. Jenny was an amazing lecturer and I enjoyed coming to class. She is so knowledgeable about child psychology too. I would take this class over again if I could. Her tests weren't too difficult as well. Just be sure to go to class since her notes aren't posted anywhere online.
While she was very good at keeping the content interesting, her tests were terrible enough that I would not have taken this class if I would have known. I took this in my last semester of my senior year, and I had never seen such poor questions. The comprehensive final questions were the worst.
Jenny is a great professor! Her lectures are really informative and engaging! I learned so much in this class, and the knowledge can be applied in a variety of fields including psychology, medicine criminal justice, politics, and of course parenting. She remembers people in the class by name and is really friendly! Definitely recommend!!
Absolutely LOVED this class. Jenny is an incredible professor, clearly passionate about child psychology and the class is very structured. Lectures flow well and exams are fair - make sure you utilize office hours and get to know her. I was afraid of children prior to this class and this class definitely changed my mindset!
Jenny is a clear and interesting lecturer. Her tests are fair and the knowledge learned is valuable for anyone who plans on having a child-related career, babysitting, or having a family of their own. She is friendly and passionate about the topic.
I really enjoyed Jenny. Funny, intertaining and informative lectures. Fair grading. She even brought her kids in for the class to observe. This class is easy for a 500 level.
Pretty good professor. In my class, our grade is based on two papers and participation. PARTICIPATE! If you don't, it could hurt your grade. She taught with her husband (Seth Pollak) and while both are nice, she was easier to talk to.
I LOVE Jenny! Her intelligence and great humor made this class so enjoyable. Definetely recommend this class. You'll learn a lot of interesting material, yet it's a pretty easy A!
Great great class. Jenny is very personable and easy to talk to. Go to office hours and take it for honors if possible. Made me choose psych as my major. There isn't a curve so the class can actually work together in order to learn. Take this class!
She is wonderful!!! Her lectures are extremely entertaining and full of funny video clips. This class is useful for anyone who ever wants to have kids. She is very approachable and helpful, too.
Great professor, lecture slides give a lot of information, she explains what you need to know well. Also, she uses youtube video's and other clips to keep it interesting, funny, tells jokes, and very easy to talk to. Very knowledgeable of the subject - amazing
Lectures off of powerpoint, you take notes. She's really awesome to listen to and she's funny. Shows utube clips a lot that are intertaining. Her exams are multiple choice and about 5 questions are kinda hard out of 55. 2 Midterms w/ 55 ques., one 20 ques quiz. Final is cummulative and 90 ques. You have to do a small research paper interview a kid.
This was a freshman seminar she taught with her husband Prof. Pollak. Prof. Saffran is helpful, friendly, and accessable. Highly recommended.
She's a great professor. Exams are a little hard though.
