I took her Slavic Literature class I wish i didn't should've dropped immediately but it wasn't so bad till the end most boring class I've ever taken. It's more of an art history course she just sort of makes things up on the fly. Her quizzes had almost nothing to do with the books we read but rather more to do with seperate pieces of art and photos
She is the reason I didn't drop out of UW-Madison. I have never had a more caring and understanding professor than Dr. Tishler. She knows college is stressful for everyone and the last thing students want to learn about is 275, but her readings are straightforward, the tests aren't going to make you stress out, and the final project was super easy.
This class was very easy and very enjoyable. Dr. Tishler is a very approachable and caring person.
Dr. Tishler is a nice woman. She does make note of attendance for a grade. Not the easiest grader, but if you put more than minimal effort into the class you will do well. Must at least try to do the reading each week, but not always necessary
She's boring and doesn't really teach, just talks at you. I never wanted to come to class because I feel like I wouldn't learn anything. Bad accent. Unhelpful. Really weird grading (testsgrade hard, essaysyou'll get an A/AB regardless). A semester of Russian wasted.
The most boring professor I have ever had. She seems to bypass all the interesting partsof russian history in favor of really lame stuff. Tests are pretty easy, and there are 8 required 2 page assignments and two papers, which aren't too bad. Reading is importan, but. For almost half the semester her lectures didn't line up with the readings.
Goes over material too slowly. Tests are extremely easy if you have been doing the homework. Essays topics weren't great, but she doesn't take many points off for mistakes. Strong American accent. Poor job engaging students. Avoid her if possible.
Good Prof. Interesting Lectures
One of, if not the worst, professors I have ever had. I had her for LIT 233 previously and she was so-so, but this class was absolutely pointless. Lectures given by guest lecturers were a little interesting, but those given by Tishler was dry and BORING with little information given that couldn't be found word-for-word in the Thompson book.
Eloquent Speaker, Very passionate about the subject. Well traveled. Multiple guest speakers make class very interesting. Tests are very easy. Lot's of papers, but short and easy to write. I highly recommend this class and this teacher!
The readings in the class will kill you. She gives you essay questions out before hand along with vocab, so its easy to score well on the tests, but the 8 response papers (only 2 pages) rely heavily on your knowledge and comprehension of the texts. She has a good voice, not overly boring. class is cross listed in 4 subjects.
Very easy and nice! Subject somewhat boring, but assignments were straight forward and she gave study guides for tests. She also gives extra credit opportunities. Great choice for anyone who just needs to get literature out of the way. (She was not as bad as previous reviews say!)
Overall good. Requirements are clear, assignments are clear, exams are clear. Fair grader. She does a good job with the course, this course at least.
tishler, delicately speaking, is woman allowed to work at the UW. lacks knowledge, tries to camo this fact by keeping everybody busy. lowers grades for purpose of reminding students that once upon a time she went to school and still has some authority over them- not only over her creeca boombox (which she uses to record lectures given by others)
I had this professor for Russian History/Poli Sci/Geography survey class and she is not the best. She is a pretty bad lecturer when she does actually lecture, but she mostly brings in guest lecturers. Going to lecture is basically useless if you do the reading. Class is pretty easy. Exam essay questions are handed out b4hand and so are the IDs.

This woman has no idea what she it doing! Her lectures are pointless and confusing, her exams are unfair and draw from uncovered material, and she is out of her mind! I don't know what planet Tishler is living on. She's a horrible professor and should not be teaching at all. Don't take her class!
