Clearly passionate, nice, and very knowledgeable. Thoroughly enjoyed class material, but slides are very image heavy with few to no words, making notetaking and review difficult as all info is based off of her speech. Grading scale seems unnecessarily harsh & long turnaround times, but does provide extra credit opportunities.

Overall a very interesting class with a great professor! Professor Pruitt is very knowledgeable when it comes to art history and architecture and her lectures were genuinely interesting. She is very approachable! Lecture attendance was optional, but pretty necessary since the posted slides are mostly photos. Discussion attendance was mandatory.

Good teacher, definitely recommend going to lectures even though attendance to them aren't mandatory. Puts information on the slides that she only explains in lecture. Honestly super interesting class and TAs were amazing. I'm a very bad procrastinator and would put things off till last minute and still got an A.

Prof. Pruitt is super knowledgeable about her subject! You can tell that she really loves art, and it made the lectures so fun to attend. The classes always started with about 5-10 minutes of technical difficulties, and usually ran over by 5-10 minutes as a result, but besides that I really loved it!

She was really great the lectures for this course are important i recommend just taking a couple notes on each art piece for the mid

Couldn't have gotten a better professor! She is very knowledgeable and passionate about art history and architecture so the classes are a breeze. Not a harsh grader at all, only based on exams and extra credit so you just have to know your stuff, all of which comes from the lectures (and optional outside reading).

I knew nothing about architecture before this class and know I feel as though I have learned a ton -- Pruitt is the real deal. Lectures are great, she is kind, cares about students, will get to know you. She does extra research if people have questions, and she is a true expert on Islamic art history. If you get a chance to learn from her, take it!

Prof. Pruitt is a very kind and knowledgeable person. Her teaching style felt a bit discombobulated at times, and some of the material wasn't very clear. Her grading requirements also weren't very clear. Otherwise she is a good professor. I recommend you take a course with her at least once, although it's understandable if you don't take another

Lots of readings involved, but her lectures are more informative. You should still do readings for context in the lecture & in-class discussion. She values participation. She recently got rid of any memorization for exams, which I am grateful for. Super understanding with extensions. An entertaining & knowledgeable lecturer, would take again.

Professor Pruitt is incredibly knowledgeable about her subject, and it shines through in her lectures. She lets you know what to expect, and as long as you put in a little effort, and engage with the material, you'll do great in her class. She's entertaining, and lovely to talk to.

I had several classes with her, she is the best prof. I had so far at UW. I really enjoyed her classes. However, her classes are challenging for the "I am here for fun" type of student or for mediocre students who expect to get an "A" for showing up. I would certainly take classes with her again.

I had Professor Pruitt for Art History 210 this past semester. She was kind and entertaining, even online. Knowledgeable and passionate about the material. The class was somewhat difficult (only a few exams and papers compose the overall grade) and slightly disjointed at times. However, Professor Pruitt & TAs are willing to meet and give feedback.

This class reminds of me of my high school classes, expect Khan Academy and other things you used for high school, such as MLA and Youtube Videos. Additionally, tests are on Zoom where she shows PPT instead of actually putting the effort to create Canvas tests. Grading is absurd and the most typos I have ever seen in 3 years of college, DO NOT TAKE

A lot of reading is assigned for every lecture, but nothing is ever done with it. The reading is useless and lectures are pretty dry. It's almost impossible to know what to take notes on, as there are no words on slides and she goes on tangents often. The tests require an absurd amount of memorization, prepare to not do very well

Thought we would be comparing buildings across cultures in History of Architecture. We did some of that, but we had two essays analyzing a building in Madison which was not what I signed up for. Midterm relied heavily on memorizing vocab words. The most annoying part is that she spent most of lectures making auditors laugh to fill her humongous ego

I really like this class. 21O is fun and very informational. You don't really have to go to class, she will post her presentations and terms on canvas when it is time to take exams. Just remember those and you will be fine. The exams are not too hard. However, the papers are very troublesome. There are a lot of auditors, so seats are tight.

Terrible. Inconsistent grading. The saddest part is she doesn't know her subject matter well enough.

Her grading is super inconsistent. Definitely one of the more difficult classes I've taken at UW. Final paper isn't too difficult, just has a lot of research involved. Assigns a TON of super long readings. Would not take another class with her.

I loved Professor Pruitt's class. The subject matter was very interesting and she is clearly very knowledgeable, as well as entertaining. I found her to be a very fair grader. As long as you do the readings and participate you will do fine. She prepared you very well for the exam. I would highly recommend the course.

Her grading was really inconsistent. I got an AB, but I'm not sure how. She literally wrote on one of my tests that she could tell that I hadn't done the reading assignments but she still gave me a B on that test.

I wish all my professors were like Professor Pruitt. She cares about her subject and about her students' experience in the class. I recommend that everyone in Madison takes her intro class. You won't just learn useless facts, but you will come out with a better understanding of the formation of Islamic cultures that translates to today's world.
