He is a great professor. Class is difficult but if you know your bio you will do fine. This is mainly though for cells and inside of the animals.

Professor Hardin is a lovely man but this class is HARD. It's listed as an intro class and the only prereq is Bio 151, but that definitely isn't enough. You learn some pretty specific cell bio and molecular pathways, and there's A LOT to memorize. If I had known how hard it was going to be and how much studying was needed, I wouldn't have taken it

He gives hints sometimes repeats for hints. He uses good ananlogies and has study sessions for his tests.

He does extra seminars to attend to prepare for his tests. Gives hints and makes sure you really know the stuff. But you got to try hard.

He does a good job to make sure his students pass gives great advice on what to study for and has hints what will be on the test.

Prof Hardin cares about his students and he wants people to succeed in his class. He makes it clear what material will be on exams and will adjust grading scales if the class overall does worse than expected. His slides are super helpful and reading the textbook is not necessary.

Love this guy. He is hlepful and clear about what will be on his tests.

Good class but you have to work pretty hard. Afterall it is a tough subject. But if you know what you're doing you'll be fine.

His class was good. Well set up. It is tough so you'll have to read and study but you'll be fine.

He is a super nice guy and cares a lot for his student!!!

He really knows how to teach the class. Nice guy and very helpful.

Despite being a really tough subject he helped a lot. He went over a fair deal of material. And helped especially when we had to go online.

Great lecturer. Very, very hard class. I would never have taken the class if I had a choice (needed it to graduate on time). The material is very complex and takes a lot of studying. Jeff is clearly passionate and wants his students to succeed.

Jeff Hardin is the best biology professor I've ever had. He cares about every single student and will take the time to answer any questions you have. His class is not an easy A but if you spend the time learning the material you can succeed. If you're interested in development take zoo 470! Also, he brings brownies to review sessions.

Really helpful. He gives good hints. And he knows how to answer questions in his office.

He is not too bad but very hard and extremely boring. He is helpful and nice in office hours so it sort of makes up for it.

One of my favorite professors! He is such a great guy inside and outside of class. Highly recommend going to office hours and optional discussion, he is very willing to help. The class subject was extremely interesting and he gave so many neat experiment examples that tie into real world applications. Highly recommend, he is an awesome dude!

For a really tough course he makes things pretty easy.

What a great guy. Hes one of the kindest instructors ive had. His courses are difficult due to content and his lectures are dense BUT they contain nearly everything that you need for exams. I havent needed to read anything else aside from some clarifications. Exams are tough but so is the material.

He gives us course objectives and they help prepare us for the exam. His exam and quizzes are grat.

This class is very boring and it really hard to understand the teacher.

His class was one of the most boring classes i ever had. Instead posting more helpful notes for his hard class he posts a lot of unnecessary articles which nobody reads.

He has lots of quizzes that are really hard as well his tests. He does not care too much about the class as talks about other things. The book is reallly hard but is more helpful than his lectures.

He was not a good professor like some say. His homework is too hard as are his tests. Lectures are practitioners pointless.

His tests are too hard, he has a lot of quizes and homework, and the lectures are very boring. You really have to read just to pass.

He teaches ok but he talks everyday off subject he does exaggerate a bit. He is a nice guy, but he could focus more on the course objectives if he runs of things to say. His tests are hard but he has a study session beforehand and gives last year's exams.

he gives you learning objectives for everything that will be on the test, so you know exactly what to study for

Great choice for a class relevant to all biological sciences! Lots of material, but he is very clear as to what is important and what isn't.

There was a lot of material, but he really broke it down into main concepts, and then explicitly laid out what you needed to know for the exam in his "Learning objectives". If you can recall all of the learning objectives, you'll get 100%. Super help in office hours, and he loves to name drop. Don't get A's a lot, but he made it easy to succeed.

Very knowledgeable, and very helpful in office hours. Go to lectures if you want to do well. This course also has two ethics discussions throughout the semester which i absolutely loved . Take him if you want to learn a lot about developmental biology, or if you work in an animal lab it helps a lot too. Just be prepared to do a lotttt memorizing...

Professor Hardin is one of the best I have had on campus. He covers a lot of material and some of it is very in depth but he is very approachable and is willing to work with his students. The tests are mostly free response which makes them more challenging but they are fair. Hardin is a great prof though and you will definitely learn a lot from him

The class is mostly memorization and there's a lot of it. The lecture slides aren't very detailed, so you must go to class to get the material! He's really great guy and down to earth. The tests and problem sets are mostly application where from what you learn must come up with experiments. He and his grad student are pretty tough graders though.

Lectures are definitely helpful. Do the lecture objectives and study guides. They'll help you more so than the book for the most part. He's an overall very nice lecturer. I just had to work hard in this class because it's not particluarily in my scope of intersts.

If you ever wanna really master the knowledge about developmental biology, choose him. The course was so engaging, and the learning process is so effective.

Engaging lectures. Prof. Hardin has been really helpful in answering questions. However, due to the nature of this course, the exams are not easy, and it is graded on a scale, not curved.

He is a great/nice professor knowing everything about animal development. MUST go to lectures to take notes. Doable problem sets and easy quiz questions. Fair exam questions mostly (~90%) from study guide. If you deconstruct down learning objectives and study guide, getting an A should be attainable. Take him if you are interested in develop. bio!

Definitely one of my favorite professors. A lot of info, but he breaks down seemingly hard concepts into easy-to-digest pieces. Exams seem very intimidating at first, but you can figure out the pattern of questions he likes to ask, and then they're not so bad. Very interesting, but you need to be willing to put the work in it to get an A!!!

Knowledgeable and entertaining

zoo470. Definitely have to go to class, though it could easily be podcasted. Read the material, memorize for exams, figure out the pattern of answers he wants and be fine.

One of my favorite professors that I have had at UW, and one of my favorite classes. The class is a lot of work, but exams are fair, and with a decent amount of effort it is not too hard to pull off an A.

Hardin was pretty good at lecturing. Sometimes I questioned whether or not he should have added some of his more religious comments/points in the slides, but hey. It's a pretty tough course, but he gets you through it okay. I wouldn't say he's phenomenal though.

Phenomenal Professor... Some material (like fly genes) was/is extremely difficult but he does provide reviews before the exam that are extremely helpful and his wife makes brownies for the review sessions! By no means an easy class but it was my favorite class I've taken thus far here at the UW. One of the Top professor's at the UW!!!!

Honestly one of my top 3 favorite professors. His class is definitely challenging (especially for me only coming into the course with a Zoology 101/102 background). But he really does love what he's teaching and the class is very interesting. Incredibly helpful and just a nice guy all around.

He's a great professor, I find him really intimidating, but he loves what he's teaching and it makes it all the more interesting. Definitely need to work hard to get an A, though because most of the students are pre-med and know their stuff.

One of my favorite biology classes ever. Hardin makes learning about embryo development fun. Exams are difficult, but his expectations are clearly outlined if you go to class. Study hard and you'll do well.

Great professor. sometimes he would get into current research which would be interesting to hear about but take up too much class time, we were a little rushed by the end of the semester. Interesting guy, extremely nice. Brownies at every review session, helpful study guide and course website.

he makes this class fairly interesting for learning about embryos! really approachable guy and very personable. and as well as he knows his work, he also has a life outside of his job. not something you find with a lot of professors!

Many liked him, but I just thought he was okay, not great. Decent guy, helpful most of the time if you approach him. Not always clear.

GREAT PROF! Passionate about what he teaches and always glad to help out/answer questions. Gives very clear, structured lectures that are easy to follow.

This man is AMAZING. Not the easiest, but he's very fair in what he expects you to know and what will be on the exam. More importantly, he loves what he does. This makes a huge difference in keeping focused and studying.
