While I enjoyed the anatomy portion, this class has a heavy focus on physiology and detailed processes. The class is set up so that you learn your content for the week Fri-Sun. You are responsible for learning and understanding the materials before class, and the lectures are all about application. Use your discussion sections to help you!

Professor Branchaw is a nice person and I find that it helps when she actually teaches to us, but most of the time that does not happen. Pre-work for the week is designed to take a long time. We've been seeing averages of 60% for the quizzes. Your TA matters for this course, as besides teaching yourself everything, they will be next to help.

To summarize what I'm about to say: DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. I'm an English and Poli Sci major and I took ANATPHY 235 for my bio breadth requirement. I won't be doing that anymore - I dropped the class 2 and a half weeks in. SUPER heavy workload, which you do most of from Friday-Sunday. TA really matters, and I didn't get a good one. SAVE YOURELF!!!

protect your peace and don't take this course.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. She has a "flipped classroom" so you teach the content to yourself outside of lecture and the content does not encompass even close to what you need to know for tests. During lecture, no one teaches and you do worksheets that don't help you grasp content. The tests are VERY difficult, class is very disorganized and a waste.

One of the worst professors I have had. She calls it a "flipped learning community" however it is set up in a way for her to do the minimal amount of work possible. The pre-recorded lectures don't cover all the material she expects you to know, tests are extremely specific, she is condescending and refuses to answer questions.

TA told us not to use the textbook that we wouldn't be using the material from it. But don't worry Professor Branchaw took the liberty of charging the textbook to your tuition bill. So use the textbook, you already paid for it afterall. But don't worry, nothing from the textbook will ever be on any assignment, quiz, or exam. Thank you professor

Lectures are videos to complete before in-person class. In-person class is used to do group work that involves participation out loud and with peers. Lots of content and was difficult to apply unless covered in class. Not all lecture content is discussed. Regardless of class participation, bi-weekly quizzes were difficult.

People who are complaining about the amount of work are being overdramatic. Yes, you have a homework assignment due most days of the week, but almost none of them are graded on accuracy. They take about 5 minutes to complete and are worth one point. There's a lot of content, but watch her mini-lectures and participate in class and you'll be fine.

You will have assignments due day except Wednesdays and honorlocked exams every other Saturday. She is full of herself and makes you share out in lectures. For being someone so intelligent in the human body and its workings, you'd think she would at least give you one weekend day to rest...nope.

While this class is a lot of work, that is the nature of physiology courses; the quizzes are really tough, but she does give some free points to 'scale' grades. It would be helpful if she explained more in class, but go to her office hours and ask if you have questions; she's super helpful and passionate about this topic; I truly learned a lot!

Don't take A.P. 235. It's a lot of information overload and a ton of homework and classwork. Only take it if you are a little dork for the human body or something. So, zon't zo it. I hate this class. Apparently, we're supposed to take 8-12 hrs per week studying for this class. Like girl, I have three other classes to worry about and a job.

I just started this course last week (so this rating is subject to change), but right off the bat, this class has been a lot of work. Be prepared for a LOT of homework assignments. This class also uses "active learning" where you watch lectures and read before lectures, and in lectures we work on practice questions. Super confusing structure.

This class is based on reverse learning. You watch the lectures and take notes on your own time, it's not actually during class like I thought it would be. Be prepared to do a study guide, concept map, in-class work with groups, and a quiz every single week. I had to spend a lot of time out of class to finish each assignment.

Reverse learning- you watch about an hour of lectures on your own and took notes. On top of that each week there was a weekly quiz, a study guide, a concept map , in class work, and some weeks essays and additional assignments due. The lectures do not explain needed quiz info, be ready to do read the textbook. About 15 hours of work each week.

Dr. B is a nice person and along with her team of TA's the class could be really fun. However, you have over an hour of lecture videos to watch each week and take notes on. The class is also focused on busywork during actual class time and the information is barely covered. Tests have extremely specific questions so even with notes they are hard.

Dr. Branchaw is an amazing professor if you attend office hours and ASK QUESTIONS! The active learning activities done every week are only participation and you MUST attend class to pass. It is hard to ask questions during lecture, however the office hours help the most and she can tell when you don't understand something and uses props to help.

Seriously, do not skip class - this class is incredibly material heavy and very difficult. If you haven't taken a physiology course before, I don't recommend this for you. Lot's of studying outside class, lots of use of the textbook (which is shockingly useful) and the lectures are long, hard to understand, and often we run out of time.

Super hard class and the professor isn't much help. She does not explain the material at a basic level. She says she is always able to answer questions (which is true) but she does not explain her answers well at all.

The "active learning" this class has is just a fancy way of saying that you mostly teach yourself. You also feel like you're always missing important info when you do the learning guides. Office hours are helpful but she seems to get frustrated if you don't know the answer. Tests are in depth and you really need to be able to apply everything.

This class teaches an overview of the organ systems, and if you're ready to read and able to teach yourself, you'll do fine. It's a flipped lecture, where groups do "workshop activities" together - which is the problem. Often, no one knows how to solve the problems, and then teach each other incorrectly. Then this conflicts with the prof's notes.

Nice lady. The grading is a bit tough, but I did learn a lot from her class and she was easily accessible for help.

Professor Branchaw knows her stuff. After class I would ask her random questions about physiology and she would be able to answer any questions I had, and was interested in my learning. This class was pretty hard, but I like physiology, so it was not bad. If you are interested in the subject, it's a great class! If you do not love physiology, don't

This class is very textbook heavy. Do the readings!! She goes through material very quickly and often doesn't review before the exams. Lecture slides are posted eventually but often don't contain all the material needed for the exam.

This class is the worst class I have ever taken. It's very unorganized and the professors don't give enough information in class that translates to exams. Exams are very difficult. She tries to be funny but it doesn't work. She knows the material well but can't translate that to the class.

This class was a horrible experience and it all started with Prof Branchaw. The ideas presented at the basis for this class were very subjective, and many times, the students and my excellent TA struggled to be aware of what was going on and what we should be doing. This was due to a lack of cohesion and leadership from Branchaw. Try to stay away.

Prof. Branchaw does not teach the class. She is not available for help outside of the classroom as well. She is unclear about the expectations from students and she will destroy your experience in the class, regardless of what it is. Avoid her and any class she teaches at all costs. She also does not resolve any issues between students and TA's.

Prof. Branchaw doesn't actually teach the class, she is just kind of there. Since lectures and discussion are only once a week, attendance is absolutely mandatory. Only exams are the midterm and final, but both are challenging. Two final projects that aren't too difficult, but requires a lot of work. If I could go back, I would not take this class.

She was one of the worst teachers I have ever had in my life (includes high and middle school). NOT Helpful and doesn't take you seriously so don't go to her; TA's were pointless as well so your SOL in Biocore 323. What infuriated me is that lecture material didn't reflect exam questions. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. (your GPA will benefit as well).

Didn't like her at all. She was extremely rude to me.

Janet did a decent job given the amount and difficulty of the material. She did assign a lot of work for her section, but completing the assignments did help for exams. She seemed friendly and well organized.

Branchaw is an unfair teacher who never really explains anything. She also gives assignments like Zoo 152 is the only class we are taking.

Exams are much harder than Strang's. She seemed a bit scattered with the material. Not as clear as Strang. If you have her in the lecture series, MAKE SURE to read ALLLLLL the notes. Every single one. Make sure you know it like the back of your hand.

Knows her stuff, but not very organized. Packet was late for both of her sections. Uses some weird scatalogical humor. Her tests are much harder than Strang's.

It's kind of unfair to give Dr. Branchaw a bad rating because she didn't really teach the class and she seems really nice, but WoKB is a complete waste of time. You have to come to the pointless (and might I add boring) lectures and there is a ton of homework just for a pass/fail one credit class.

This intro to biology class was a massive waste of my time. It's structured like a high school class, which never failed to annoy me. Lecture is mandatory, and extremely tedious. Far too much work for a one credit course. Don't get talked into taking this by biology department advisors.
