Not a good course, strict grader, not very understanding. Got one question wrong on an exam and lost 32 points out of 100 for just that question. My grade dropped 7% from that one question. Worst professor I have had.

This class ended up being a bit more boring than I thought it would be, but Dr. J is a good professor and you can tell she tries to make the content interesting and easy to understand. The class is very easy; exams are outside of class and all you really need to do is go to class and take notes. My favorite part of the class was group projects.

Dr. J is an amazing teacher and this is an easy class. All you have to do is show up. Not to mention she gives great lectures and you truly do leave with an understanding of the material.

I took it online, but she really did a good job explaining concepts through the lecture videos. The exams are easy, and the works are simple, too. You just have to spend some time studying, then you'll get an A fs.

Dr. J does a great job of making the class super interesting and informative without making it difficult and boring! She knows so much about theory and gives great feedback. She is so sweet and gentle too, you can tell she really cares for her students. If you show up and do the assignments it is easy to get a good grade. Highly recommend!!!

As a person with no music background I took this class for fun, but the class seemed a little too in depth for people with no prior background. I think I only did well because it was online. Dr. J was always very nice though, communicative, and a quick grader. The group projects were a little irritating because the classmates were not responsive

Good professor; I had her during covid fall 2020 and she was very generous with grading (partially for that reason). Lots of writing music yourself (just time consuming, not difficult), a couple group projects, and three easy exams. That's the class.

Dr. J is passionate and knowledgeable about the material. The class activities and groupwork are really fun to do. She's quick at giving feedback and the tests are not hard. Be sure to keep up with the homework though!

She's knowledgeable, and passionate about teaching. I would have given her a 4 except she gave me a 0 on the final composition project because I wrote it in just treble clef instead of in grand staff. That's absurd and unfair.

Delight to have in class, always makes lecture engaging

I took this class with no music background, and it wasn't too bad. I wouldn't take it again though because it was a bit confusing and difficult for someone with no experience, even though Dr. J tries to make sure everyone is on the same level. She's good at lecturing, but when you ask her questions she doesn't answer them clearly.

Well organized course, very approachable professor. This would my first and last review on any professor. If you put minimum effort to the subject, you'll get a fine grade. Again very nice professor

Extremely organized and kind professor. If you attend classes you will definitely ace the exams. Easy A and truly learned some basic theories of music. Highly recommended.

Very picky about the music journals, so make sure that you triple check with her to make sure that you did all of them right. Every other assignment you essentially get full credit just for doing

One of the most organized classes I have ever taken. Extremely responsive to emails as well, which is a huge help--especially for an online class. Expect lots of homework! It takes a lot of time, so you will not be able to get everything done at the end of the semester. Stay on track with the class. Very generous grader.

Super easy and fairly interesting class. The little group projects were kind of annoying but super easy and involved no time out of class. Really nice and helpful professor.

Dr. J is the best! Guidelines are incredibly clear. This is the easiest class at UW IF you keep up weekly. I went to class, watched the videos and kept up on the journals and that's all I had to do. Take the blended version if you're worried you wont keep up weekly online. If you're looking for an easy, fun class with a great teacher, take 151.

Dr. J is one of the best teachers you can ever take. Her lectures are extremely clear and easy to follow. EASY A.

FANTASTIC. She is extremely nice and open to meeting you when you're available. I took her class online and it was extremely easy. However, stay on top of your journals. It sucks if you are behind when they are due. Other than that she is great! Highly recommend.

Fantastic. The only professor I've had at UWM that manages to stay on schedule, is up-front about her expectations, helpful, and prompt about returning assignments. I had my final grade for the semester one day into finals week. Makes herself available. Really just not enough good can be said.

Kind, thoughtful, and passionate professor of music. Great class! Easy A.

Took the class online so I never actually met her but she answers questions through email very quickly and clearly. DO YOUR JOURNALS WHEN THEY'RE ASSIGNED IT MAKES THINGS SOOOO MUCH EASIER

Best professor at the UW.

Dr. Henke is a great prof. She really knows what she is talking about and does a good job explaining theory concepts. The grade is largely based on take-home projects, which take a while, so don't put them off until the end of semester. She is extremely accommodating and willing to help, and genuinely seems to want her students to succeed.

Dr. Henke is one of Madison's best professors, and truly cares about her students. My aunt passed away and the final was on the day of the funeral and she was more than willing to do anything she could to help me out. She is very interested in seeing students succeed and cares more about them than just their grade. YOU WANT TO TAKE THIS CLASS!!

Very helpful. Class not difficult, but there is a fair amount of tedious, homework-type work, especially towards the end of the semester.

Hands down the BEST professor I"ve had at UW! Take this class with her!!! I took the online section- There's a fair amount of work but if you keep up with it, you'll be fine. And if you have problems with anything, just go in and talk to her and she'll make sure you understand it.

Took her music app. over the independent leanring program. Overall, she is a very good teacher. The course does not have any exam, only 7 homeworks. So I only used 2 weeks to complete it. It is a really good course if you dont like music. If you are music major, I would not suggest you take this, however, if u want a Gen.Ed req. COME ON!!

Great class and professor! She is extremely knowledgeable and caring, and is always very willing to help with anything you might need. It was difficult to get up for an 8:50 class 3 days a week, especially Fridays, but an A is easy to achieve if you go and do a little work. Didn't particularly like the group jingles, but you get through it.

yeah, she makes sure her students know the material and is willing to help those who don't outside of class. shes one of the few professors who really connects with her students and wants them to succeed.

She does an excellent job teaching music theory, and is 100% clear on what she wants you to know for the tests. She is very nice, and willing to help anyone that may be struggling. There is basically no homework, and if you go to class the tests are extremely easy to ACE. Reallllly Good, take it.
