At first, it seems like he'd rather be anywhere else. However, he is a really caring professor that really wants you to succeed. He incorporated his students' feedback into the class and changed the grading style to benefit everybody. He also answers questions very well. Would recommend.
Professor Notbohm took over EMA 201 after the teacher had to leave. He was so nice and a much better teacher. Would definitely take his class again
This really is a weed out class so just be ready to struggle. If you can make it through the first and second midterm with a decent grade you should be fine overall.
This guy will NEVER be Antonio. Bring Antonio back :((((((
He ight i guess
Jacob ruined my interest in Mechanics. I don't know if it was the material that made the class so bad or if it was him, but he definitely didn't help. Lectures were pretty dry, but the worst part was the homeworks were very hard. Almost no guidance on them and not super similar to TB or lecture examples. He seemed confused if you didn't understand
Difficult course. Good professor. Homework is long and challenging but graded leniently. Exams are challenging but straightforward. Needs to restructure his office hours format - too many students waiting in the hall. Other than that solid class.
Jacob doesn't seem like he wants to be in class, just talks a lot about his note sheet and how smart he is. Homework takes 6-8 hours per assignment and tests are tough. Does not curve the class :(
Great lecturer and very nice. Possibly the most challenging EMA 506 professor however. His exams are fair with reasonable averages around 80%. His homework assignment are very difficult, start them early and make sure to attend office hours. He is extremely helpful in office hours and they are the key to understanding the hw and course material.
Very competent professor in the sense that he explains difficult concepts both efficiently and effectively. Very helpful with questions and has good examples. He is extremely thorough with his lectures without them coming across as rigorous. I highly recommend Professor Notbohm.
He is a good professor and makes the material clear, he just does not seem like he wants to be there. He acts like he is above this class and has better things to be doing.
He's a very reasonable guy and fairly good teacher: a safe bet if you're in a toss-up. I ended up having to miss assignments (extenuating circumstances) and he was very reasonable and easy to work with. Textbook solutions *do* exist for the homework, so ask around. If you pay attention and can complete problems, there's no need to get the textbook.
Class was interesting. Started out really easy but by the time you reach combined loading Notbohm will have you doing piles of homework. Good practice, but incredibly frustrating and time consuming. Test was awful, and his practice exam was not representative.
Prof Notbohm is incredibly helpful in office hours and will work an entire problem with you if you are participatory. His exams are easy with averages in the lows 80s. He is highly amenable and explains material well in lecture.
