I genuinely feel bad for JT as a person in taking so much joy from watching students fail. The class was much more difficult, stressful, and time-consuming than any 2 credit class out there. The content was very intreating but definitely taught by the wrong kind of teacher.
JT cared more about looking cool or "chill" to his students than being actually helpful. There would be points taken off assignments with no explanation or for reasons that were not specified in the instructions or rubric of the assignments. The final exam for this class was absolutely horrendous and had almost nothing to do with what was taught.
JT would never teach us the proper tools to use in class and then make students feel bad for not understanding how to do what was asked and would mock them. One time I was using a protractor to draw a circle and he comes up and watches me use it, tells me I'm using it wrong and does not correct me but proceeds to walk away.
JT's teaching is antagonistic and demoralizing for an intro class. He mocks students, grins while predicting failure, and withholds guidance on tasks like a 30-page project. Questions are met with condescension, creating a hostile environment. His approach fosters anxiety, hinders learning, and erodes confidence, stifling growth.
JT is a flexible and approachable professor. If you have to miss a day because you're sick it's no problem. The course content seemed to be concise and as industry-applicable as possible. The final project seemed a little hectic at times but in the end was not too bad and was reasonable in its demands in my opinion. Overall great professor!
