Didn't care much about the class
Very good prof! I miss his mustache.
No need to use the book. I felt that what he taught was not necessarily Analytical Chemistry. We learned little to no mathematical calculations and exams were ridiculous. He is a researcher first and a professor only because he has to be. Very unapproachable and focused on his own research in class rather than material.
No need to buy the text book. He only tests the material included in class notes.
He's a researcher first and professor second. Because of this, his class was pretty easy. A lot of people complained about him, but I thought he was knowledgeable and the class was never overwhelming.
Only teaches because its required for his job. Fairly hostile to students. Used last years exam when half the class was given it it section, completely unorganized and confused. If you get stuck with him make sure to get previous years final, he said he was going to use it again.
Professor****is an amazing professor. He speaks very clearly and presents excellent examples to help students understand the material. Tests are very straight forward and follow previous exams. The textbook is not essential to understand course material, just pay attention in class. I would strongly suggest this professor.
He is not a bad professor. You don't use the book that much so even though class is not mandatory, you pretty much have to go. tests are easy and he won't trick you. The best prof. i have had so far. Labs in this class suck tho, so you should get a good TA for labs.
He is a fine lecturer. You really don't use the book that much and the exams are based directly from the notes. The labs can be difficult, but really, this is a fairly easy class. Speaks english. Isn't at office hours very much, but the TA's can help and there is really no need to go see him.
I surprised at all of the bad ratings. He's not a bad professor. I would say that lecture is mandatory because his tests are based entirely on lecture material. If you listen to lecture you will do well, he doesn't try to trick you with obscure questions not discussed like past chemistry professors I have had.
Very poor decision on the Universities part to hire professor coon. Has little care about students, unclear with procedures. Clearly focused on research instead of students. I have had MUCH better professors at community college than here at UW, a top tier school.
Horrible chemistry professor. Don't have to go to class since notes are posted online, his notes are right from the book. Grading methods are VERY questionable- almost no partial credit, asks about things not discussed/barely discussed. Office hours useless. Avoid this man.
Coursework is not difficult, but his tests are often silly. He is probably the only professor who deducts points for not showing working on multiple choice questions. Not a very good lecturer, and lecture materials is 100% direct from the book. Don't choose him unless you really have to.
