Prof. Salmons was a great professor and clearly wanted the students to benefit from his class! He was very accommodating and made sure to check in on us many times throughout the semester. Joe has big Dad energy. There is no other way to explain his persona. There are a lot of readings in this course, and they are not always easy to understand, but his lectures are amazing and really explain everything. He really cares about his students, and is pretty lenient when it comes to deadlines, just as long as you do the homework.Rate My Professors ↗
Joe is an absolute beast. I loved this class. Although I was completely green to linguistics coming in, I did not feel left behind at all. He presents the information in a way that is robust but also easily accessible. This is a Comm B course, so be ready to write. Joe is fantastic. This class was a mix of people who have no linguistic experience and grad students in Linguistics, so the content is suited for everyone. There's a bit of memorization in the first half of the course, but after the ONE exam, it's mainly focussed on a final project.
