If your not a STEM major do not take this class for an easy physical science credit. He grades the homework and exams harshly. The average for exams was around 70% or below and the professor considered that a "good" average. When I went to his office hours he gave me almost no help expect for "think more". While I absolutely despised this class, Professor Martin was as helpful as he could be. The class is 100% lecture and if you miss it you will have no idea what you missed. Nothing is posted on the canvas so you have no materials to study outside of your own notes. Despite this, Professor Martin's office hours were very helpful and accessible.Rate My Professors ↗
First of all: Both Professor Martin and the TA for 101 (Libby) are lovely, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable people. That being said, DO NOT take this class for a science credit. The class average for exams is often a C or a D. Homework is graded quite harshly, with no rubric for how to succeed/get a good grade. Love Mahtin. Don't love the class.Rate My Professors ↗
This course is not easy. It is not an elementary course. Average Test scores were failing or one point above failing. Homework points are taken off, and no reason is ever given. In the last few weeks, half of my row dropped the course. This class took the joy out of being in the sun. Save yourself pls don't let my pain be for nothing.Rate My Professors ↗
For 100, the exam reviews are unhelpful; it's 4 vague questions for a 30 question exam. The homework has no rubric, and feedback is not really offered. The 101 portion has its pros, with interesting topics demonstrated with small experiments by the TAs, but most of it is busy work and rushed lectures.
