About this rating

Raw average: 2.20/5 from 10 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

CHEM 329
Quality 2/5Difficulty 5/5
Dr. Wright is a nice person, but he does not explain the concepts well. A lot of the information you have to ask for help from the TAs to understand or you need to figure out yourself. The labs do not align with the lecture material at all. The homework is difficult because you can't understand the lecture. You need a good TA.

CHEM 329
Quality 1/5Difficulty 3/5
John Wright's version of CHEM 329 was a dumpster fire. Lecture was useless, lab was disjointed from the lecture, and tests and homework were sometimes just completely wrong. Was extremely unhelpful in his responses to questions on Piazza. FURTHERMORE, the grading scale was changed w/o notice and NOT in the students' favor. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

CHEM 329
Quality 1/5Difficulty 5/5
John Wright may have been the most disorganized professor I have ever had the displeasure of taking a class with. He ended up ghosting the TAs and the students when asked about pretty much anything for the class. He was also so disorganized that he got confused by his own lectures and homeworks regularly, leading to this class becoming frustrating.

CHEM 329
Quality 1/5Difficulty 4/5
I don't even know why I kept going to every lecture. 3/4 of the time was spent on him rambling about unrelated topics or correcting his own mistakes. The labs and the project were interesting, but the lectures and homework were just utter disasters

CHEM 329
Quality 1/5Difficulty 4/5
There was a huge disconnect between lecture, lab, and homework. Out of 100 people in the class, only 30 people attended lectures because they weren't necessary. Exams had same format as homework, which wasn't taught in lecture. He's a great guy, but wasn't super helpful towards getting a good grade. Honestly feel like I learned nothing.

Lecture is confusing even for Prof Wright. He gets confused by his own examples often. Concepts "learned" in lecture have little to no application for the lab. Homework has to be coded in Python, which is not explained properly, homework problems are riddled with mistakes (homework is pretty easy once you get it though, and you grade it yourself.)
