Professor Cooper was very knowledgeable about early 20th century American politics. He often interspersed interesting anecdotes into his lectures. His downside was that he was far too pro-Soviet Union. He was also quite negative towards the United Kingdom. No doubt his Irish surname had something to do with it. Prof. Cooper is the man. The world's foremost expert on President Wilson. He gives a 75 minute lecture without even glancing at notes. One of the UW's best.Rate My Professors ↗
Old School Lecturer. Just sits down and talks for 75 minutes, which is interesting if you love US history. If you dont like to sit through 75 minutes of material, you can still read the books and do well in the class. 2 Midterms and a Final which are straightforward and graded by the TAs Love the class. Clearly a knowledgeable guy, but he sort of bored me at times. Maybe it was more due to the subject matter than the professor though. I like history, but the Populists just aren't all that exciting to me. On the bright side, the class is pretty easy. One midterm with a really broad choice of questions, and a take home final.
