I took AAS271 with Prof. Almiron. I only took the class for ethnic study credits but her class really blew my mind. She is good at driving discussions and presenting course materials. She cares about all her students and is a very inspirational individual. I would love to take her classes again!

Professor Almiron did such a good job teaching my class. Usually I don't write these sort of things but I felt I had to give credit where due. She is energetic and takes the time to get to know you, total people person. I would highly recommend taking this class, it was interesting and a good use of my time (rare to find in a 50+ student lecture).

My class with Dr. Almiron was by far my favorite class I've ever taken as an undergrad. She is compassionate and enthusiastic and her class is never dull. Most importantly, you feel like you are seen, heard, and felt no matter who you are when you are in her class and that is rare for some of us on this campus. We are truly lucky to have her at UW

Professor Almiron is the cool aunt. She's funny, relaxed, relatable, intelligent and caring. Her class is so much fun! She always makes jokes or does funny dances to pep us up when we're not talkative. And now about her teaching - incredible. She is full of love and passion. Rare to find nowadays; take it, you won't regret it.

Johanna Almiron is a professor who comes to teach, not get research money and promote her own name. She is always there for students and challenges us to have deep discussions in class. If you do not want to think, do not take her class. If you don't mind talking a bit to your peers take this, the grading is fair, and the lectures are interesting.
