Initially was intimidated by Jen because she's very fast paced, but she is very patient and always accessible and took the time to get to know the entire class. She tries her best to grade leniently and help you out if you're working hard but don't have the best exam scores. She also offers a lot of extra credit opportunities and brings food often.

Jen's lectures and notes were very hard to follow (doesn't use line drawings). She often missed lectures, attending 60% (missed 10 of 24) of class due to her research or visiting professorship. Instead, we had a very unprepared TA teach the course. It was tough to learn the material due to the lack of accessibility and professionalism on her end.

She is very high energy and makes lectures bearable. There is A LOT of note taking. Every lecture you are taking notes the whole time but it really helps once you get to studying. She gives us hints about what will be on the tests too. Tests are very manageable.

schomaker is a great ochem professor who is passioante and explains things in a way that makes complicated things simpler. not gunna lie, ochem is hard. but jen makes it passable and a fun class (and offers extra credit!)

Amazing professor, very available for questions. Lectures are easy to follow. Homework problems are optional, but help a lot and are very similar to the exams. Would definitely take it again.

Prof. Schomaker was very busy throughout the semester... I get that her research is important but so are her students. Exams are kind of hard. Also, go to class! She often gives hints about stuff she'll put on the exam, and, in two cases, gave us half of a quiz and a 50 point problem on an exam for coming to class. Offers EC which is good.

Puts little to know effort into teaching as well as complains when people ask for extra help because, unlike other professors, she has research to do. Tests are incredibly lengthy for the time allotted. Her TAs do the bare minimum as well. Very disorganized.

She's probably my favorite professor on campus. Her class is extremely fair, she goes through many problems that will be very similar if not exact to the ones on the exam, and she even offers a couple of extra credit opportunities. Her lectures are very clear and enjoyable. 10/10 would recommend taking a class with her.

She is SO PASSIONATE about organic chemistry, and really brings the reactions to life by talking about their actual uses. Her exams were incredibly fair, and she was very open to talking over the problems in and outside of class. Extra credit assignments! :D

Jen is really nice. she prepares you for the test. no homework for her class. as long as you appear (not mandatory but recommended cuz she tells you what would be and would not be on the test) and do her practice exams, you are fine.

I guess you just have to spend every waking minute studying for this class? Could get mean in class.

Jen was one of the most helpful professors I have had. She would give hints about tests in class and prepared you well for the tests she gave.

Jennifer was a wonderful professor, but you need to earn her respect by going to her. Approach her with any question and she will help you until you understand. Emails back very quickly and was more than fair with grades. SHE DOES EXTRA CREDIT! I thought I would fail the class (given my ochem history) but she saved my GPA with EC. Great professor!

Jen was my favorite professor during my semester with her! She is very interesting and willing to help her students succeed. However, her class is very though. Her lectures go fast and she is only willing to help those who reach out to her. Loves what she does and you can tell during class just by how she lectures.

Would highly recommend Jen Schomaker for 345! The material is understandably difficult but she does an excellent job at explaining everything. She genuinely cares about her students and rewards students who go to lecture by modeling exams after her lectures.

Jen gets kind of confusing during lecture so make sure to take a look at the notes she posts online. Material is tough and she does a decent job explaining it. The TAs did a horrible job grading this semester so make sure to go to section to review it so you can submit a regrade. Notes done by hand and there's a break half way through lecture.

Jen is the absolute best professor I have had here on campus. She is passionate about her students and the material. Always willing to help and answer questions and truly wants everyone to succeed. Would highly recommend taking her for any organic chemistry class

Very helpful! If she is confusing during lecture, she clears it up willingly. Really wants her students to succeed and will reward you for seeking out help. I did much better in this second semester of organic because of Jen! I highly recommend her!

Prof. Schomaker is by far the most helpful professor on campus. She is explicit when talking about what she expects you to know for the exam and even gives hints as to what will be on there in lecture. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!! She's extremely patient and really wants her students to succeed. The book is pretty helpful for clarifying things.

Although I'm not very interested in Ochem, Jen is still my favorite Chemistry professor. I'm a chem major (pchem) and I've learnt several chem courses. Jen is the best chem professor I've ever seen! Reasonable exams & HWs. Some extra credits! Also, she is very helpful! Even has OH during weekends! Review sessions for all the exams!

Jen is an extremely fast lecturer. However, she will cover all the material in class that you need to know for the exam. You don't have to read the book to do well, just skim for core concepts and reaction mechanisms. Her handouts are extremely helpful and the practice exams are the same format as the actual. She wants everyone to do well. :)

Jen is really intense. She goes really fast and expects you to know a lot. Her class was fair though. She is pretty clear about what you should know. And you better know it or you will be screwed come test time. Pay attention she gives a lot of hints. She is very helpful in office hours. She wants you to do well. But she is kinda tough.

Jen is awesome!!! She is so excited about organic chemistry and I like all the stories about her adventures with different reactions- it helps me remember them a lot more easily. She is super friendly and always willing to help. OChem is not easy, but you will get all the help you need to be successful. Looking forward to 547!!

Jen is an amazing teacher! Very enthusiastic and really nice. Moves really fast but posts all the lecture notes online verbatim. She lets you know exactly what mechanisms and reactions you have to know for the exams. Exams are extremely fair. Attend her review sessions because she usually slips some exam questions. If Jen is an option , take her!

Great professor - really enthusiastic about ochem. She thinks fast and talks fast, so sometimes she's hard to keep up with, but she's extremely helpful and really wants students to succeed. The exams are very fair although grading can be picky.

She is awesome. Very friendly and enthusiastic. Actually listens to students suggestions/takes action. She does go fast in lecture. However, during the "lecture break" she is more than willing to answer anything you missed. You have to work hard, but she is a great teacher. No reason to be nervous for this class, the resources are there to do well

I love Jen! Shes super driven and successful and wants her students to do well, don't get me wrong its not cake walk but shes there to help, I had nothing but a great encounters in this class. You will have to put the time into it since her lectures move super fast, overall great!!!

The first time I took this class I got a C with a different professor. I'm now retaking it and am in line for an A. She makes things clear, tests are completely fair and she tells you whats on them ahead of time. She gives you lists of reactions and mechanisms. Two easy opportunities for extra credit! Seriously who does that anymore!?

I changed my major to chemistry. Enough said.

Jenn is super energetic and really tries to make sure all her students know what is going on! She is super fun to listen to, and even though she goes fast she gives you breaks to catch up on note taking! Really a good professor.

The review sessions and the lists of reactions are so helpful!!!! I did 20 poitns better on the second exam and she does really try to help the class understand the most important reactions, because they are a lot of them! If you keep up with the reactions, you will do great, but don't fall behind!!

She does talk fast, but is just a high-energy person. She is super-helpful during office hours and really cares that you understand what you did wrong. I was scared of this class, but she is very reassuring.

Very bad professor! teaches at a very fast rate and uses the book like the bible.. her exams are hard and dont reflect on what was learned. lousy teacher take ochem 345 with prof yoon he is awesome!
