I graduated college. After struggling and scraping by for years, taking her class reinstated my faith in undergrad. There are many wonderful professors in the French department at UW, but Prof Gipson made me feel the most seen and heard. She respects her students and leads thought-provoking conversation. The readings and videos were the most boring things I've ever read/watched and since the class was mostly online, it took about three hours to get through all the materials for a 15 question quiz..","source_url":"https://www.ratemyprofessors.com/professor/1756763","quality_rating":2,"difficulty_rating":3},{"observed_at":"2026-09-07 16:33:24.168398+00:00","run_id":"20260907T155543-ce3781c4","source_review_id":"UmF0aW5nLTMxMDk5Njc0","source_instructor_id":"rmp:1756763","instructor_name":"Jennifer Gipson","course_label":"FRENCH322","course_id":"FRENCH 322","course_uid":"course_5b11eef253e8803d23e69a66","review_date":"2018-12-19 16:44:51 +0000 UTC","comment":"I loved Jennifer! It's clear how much she cares about student progress, and I actually learned a lot about both literary analysis and the French language itself when I took her class. She gives great feedback too, often within minutes of submitting something. Going to class was enjoyable because she's hilarious and very enthusiastic!","source_url":"https://www.ratemyprofessors.com/professor/1756763","quality_rating":4,"difficulty_rating":2},{"observed_at":"2026-09-07 16:33:24.168398+00:00","run_id":"20260907T155543-ce3781c4","source_review_id":"UmF0aW5nLTI0Mjk5NzYz","source_instructor_id":"rmp:1756763","instructor_name":"Jennifer Gipson","course_label":"FRENCH228","course_id":"FRENCH 228","course_uid":"course_c9ea7f229f197dc5f8eb22c9","review_date":"2015-01-17 00:37:25 +0000 UTC","comment":"Long lectures; lectures are already 75 minutes but she makes them feel like they're 2 hours. DO NOT SLEEP IN CLASS! Or she will call you out on it and dislike you. Think you'll be watching Disney movies in this class? Think again. You only watch one disney film and don't do anything related to Disney till end of semester. 3 quizzes and 2 essays.
