I loved this class so much, attendance wasn't but I still attended every lecture! Prof Beneker clearly loves what he does, so much so that YOU feel it. While I recommend you read before class, you don't even have to, his lectures cover everything. His quizzes are very lecture heavy but can be easy As. I enjoyed Classics 320 so much, I had declared a Classics certificate by the end. I took it as a Com B requirement, so it was very writing heavy, but in the most accessible way possible. The grading was very forgiving, but Professor Beneker would have made it worth it even if it wasn't. He was calm, friendly, and engaging- definitely recommend.Rate My Professors ↗
Prof. Beneker is very engaging and I genuinely learned a lot. However, I found myself spending more time to stay afloat in this class than my STEM classes and at the last week we four different assignments due. Yes its comm B and grading is lenient but there gets to be a point. Overall I enjoyed this classRate My Professors ↗
Beneker's lectures are necessary to do well in the course, but very informational and entertaining. The material covered is interesting as long as you have a general interest in the Greeks. There are lots of outside of class readings to support the lecture, and weekly responses that are 600 words to prove understanding. Overall great course.Rate My Professors ↗
Professor Beneker gave awesome interactive lectures! He had a severe personal issue arise during the semester and did his best to support his class and get sub-professors for the class.
