This class was an easy A, but was incredibly disappointing. I was really looking forward to this course, but I couldn't sit through the lectures (incredibly boring). This class has potential, and the prof. clearly cares about the material. But a lot of info was outdated (created a lot of confusion on exams) and the lectures were unbearable.Rate My Professors ↗
Dr. Chavas was a good lecturer, but you just need to copy the slides from the power points to succeed. On exams he emphasizes graph/table information. Lecture essays were easy but most of the grade was dependent on exam grades. Discussions were pointless. Exams averaged about 90%. Really interesting class. The Powerpoints are very helpful, and the professor uploads all class material online. The class is managed well, and there are several participation essays which help pad your grade. The midterms and exams were well written, but beware multiple choice questions.Rate My Professors ↗
His lectures are hard to follow sometimes, so you definitely need to read the powerpoints online. Discussion is critical to understanding the material. The course has a lot more work in the beginning of the semester, which is stressful at first but ends up being really nice towards the middle/end of the semester.Rate My Professors ↗
